While at the ATM
While at the ATM
I was on my way to the Nation's Gun Show with my daughter last Saturday and stopped by the BofA ATM in Annandale. It was hot that day and there were several people ahead of me. The ATF in the drive-thru wasn't working so the line of people was growing. I was CC'ng (was wearing a lose shirt for comfort). My turn came and did my withdrawal so I can buy some ammo at the show. As I took the wallet out of my back pocket, my shirt drew open exposing my Colt Combat Commander on my waist. The guy behind me asked loudly, "Is that a gun?" I said, "yes". Surprised, he asked me, "Is that allowed in Virginia?" I replied, "yes" with a smile on my face...continuing to say that I have a permit. His response was, "Oh." We went our separate ways....I hope he realized that he just met a law-abiding, concealed-carrying Fairfax County resident who happened to educate him about legally carrying guns in Virginia.

Re: While at the ATM
Why do people have to say it as loud as they possibly can? Because they want attention! I think the next time someone asks me "Is that a gun?" I'm going to tell them "No, it's a ________" - Fill the blank however you like! Think of something funny!

I'm inclined to think this guy was trying to draw attention to the gun and Jericho, not himself. Possibly he doesn't feel we should be allowed to carry them? Why did he say anything at all unless he was trying to get Jericho in trouble (hoping a cop was around) or he knows the law and doesn't approve of it. For all he knew Jericho could have been an LEO so why say anything?allingeneral wrote:Why do people have to say it as loud as they possibly can? Because they want attention! If there was a LEO around there, maybe this guy would have gotten more education about CC'ng in Virginia, assuming the LEO knows the law.

Thats always my thought when something like that happens, if you carry all the time sooner or later some one will see your weapon.I'm inclined to think this guy was trying to draw attention to the gun and Jericho, not himself. Possibly he doesn't feel we should be allowed to carry them?
Of course I always think the worst of people.
The summer is bad, hard to hide anything.

If you don't mind a .380 try a Ruger LCP. I got one a couple of weeks ago and found it's great for CC in hot weather. I can fit it in any of my pants pockets and some of my shirt pockets.Bob wrote:The summer is bad, hard to hide anything.

Hey Moccasin, I have a little Smith 380 auto that I use, it works OK when all you are wearing is a tee shirt and jeans.
I agree it's better than nothing.

What a dummy, if I spotted a gun on someone I would not ask them any questions.

Well, I might if I thought it might be an encouraging conversation. Always good to meet other like-minded (read: patriotic) citizens exercising their rights.skt239 wrote:What a dummy, if I spotted a gun on someone I would not ask them any questions.
And for carry... if'n you don't mind .380 - Walther PPK.
If they made one in 9MM I'd own it. Strange that they don't as .380 is simply 9x17MM and 9MM (para) is 9x19MM.

If I saw someone flash I would be tempted to say "How do you like that_________?
I was thinking of getting one".

Re: While at the ATM
I have to agree with the LCP in the frony pocket I love mine. Like everyone said a .380 in the pocket is better then a .45 in the car.
