What is your carry set up?

Post by skt239 »

Hello all,

So I was wondering, what is your EDC set up? I mean everything, gun(s), holster, belt type, knife, flashlight ect...

Here's mine :

-Sig 239 .9mm
-Galco summer special or com-tac kydex paddle holster
-SOG topo meridian
-Extra mag in a black hawk mag holder
-All held together by a 5.11 trainer belt or a super thick Banana republic belt that works just as well.

So how bout you guys? What's your setup?

Kel-Tec P-11 in a Holster bag.
Spare magazine.
SOG Twitch in outer bag pouch.
My bag is from E.S. Ramey but I don't see the one I have on their site anymore. It was one of their Unisex ones. I carry it on my right side right where a holster would ride with the strap across my chest. I had my wife make a beaded pull for the zipper on the gun compartment for fast and easy access.

Usually it's either my Glock 23 stoked with Doubletap GoldDots or my Taurus 651 .357mag snub nose loaded with Federal Hydrashoks. The Glock rides in a Galco Matrix M7X and the Taurus rides in a Don Hum JIT belt slide. OWB only for me. I use both Rafter S and Beltman leather gun belts in 1.75" widths. (I really prefer the Rafter S belts, they seem to hold up better than then Beltman belts I have).

Mike Taurisano, a retired cop in upstate NY, makes outstanding leather under the name of Tauris Holsters. I have one of his for all of mine. And two for some (black for suits). I was married in one of them. His ankle rig (Kahr) is the only one I trust.

One of the great things about Mike is he'll make your holster neutral-cant at no extra charge (and you can specify all your options). This is my preferred method and gives me a quicker draw carrying squared up at 3 o'clock.

Of course, the holsters are paired with matching dual mag pouches and a two-ply gunbelt.

The standard high-ride shrinks my Glock 20 to daily, summer carry proportions.

I'm so mean, I don't need to carry anything. I walk down the street and gangbangers nod and say "whats up,yo" and they cross the street.....

Yeah, well the reason I carry is I dont like gangbangers and hope to walk on the other side of the street from you...I pick fights with them and they cross over to the over side... :hysterical:

I carry a Smith & Wesson J-Frame Centennial Airweight, model 642. In plain English, a .38 snubbie. It's a newer model, so it'll shoot +p rounds. I replaced the factory black rubber boot grips with wood service grips and Tyler t-grip. I like the old school look, even though I'm the only one who gets to see it.
If I'm belt carrying, I use a Don Hume J.I.T. slide holster. For pocket carry, a Blackhawk pocket holster.

I carry a S&W 4043 .40 cal DAO. It has a double stack magazine filled with Federal HydraShoks and I added some Hogue grips. It also has Tritium night sights installed. I carry it in a IWB holster that I picked up from a show - I can't remember who makes it.

If I can work out the kinks with my Charles Daly 1911 (.45), I'll probably start carrying it more since it's much more narrow due to the single stack mag. The S&W is pretty wide, especially after I added the rubber Hogue grips to it.

There are a couple of pics in the following thread from before I added the grips.

OC :
Glock 22 with Speer Gold Dot loaded - Extra mag of Hornaday TAP in mag-carry-on ITAC locking holster

CC:
PT-145 in Galco IWB black leather - Speer Gold Dots

Always with me...
-Folding pocket knife or Clip locking Razor on Belt
-Grim Scowl
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.
