OC in Richmond Today
On the way home from the Veterans Hospital in Richmond my wife and I stopped at Jason's Deli in Short Pump to grab lunch. I have my CHP but since they sell beer I usually leave my gun in the truck. Today I finally felt comfortable enough to open carry into the restaurant. Based on the many stories I have read on this forum and others I performed the Virginia tuck and walked in. I was expecting some stares or maybe even being asked to leave if they didn't allow guns. Instead it was like no one even cared. The clerk taking our order looked at it and didn't seem to care. It felt good not disarming in order to eat like I usually do. I hope the general assembly changes the law allowing us to carry concealed in places that serve alcohol as long as your not drinking. I plan on continuing to OC in restaurants now that I am over the nervousness. Thanks to all the members of the forum whose stories helped me feel comfortable in my right to open carry.

Alright... I did an ABC search. The one I go to in Tysons Corner doesn't have a license. Whew!
Anyway, we really need to get that CC law fixed.

I didn't know that either, until one day when I was CC'ing and saw someone drinking a beer at the table next to me. Oops...LFS wrote:Jason's Deli sells beer! I never realized that.
I figured I'd better leave, after I had my ice cream for dessert

Same thing happened to me. I was sitting with my wife and kids chowing down and noticed the couple next to us drinking beer. I said to my wife, oops I didn't know they sold beer here. This time I knew better. It's funny that something I knew was legal and even my duty to do felt so awkward at first. I will still carry concealed most of the time but now when I go out to eat I won't leave my gun in the safe in the truck. I hope my story helps someone else to feel confident enough to OC when they feel the need. The stories here really helped me and I thank all of you.

Wow, I didn't know that either. A bunch of us from work eat there for lunch a lot here in Hampton. I've been there in the evening as well, and not once have I seen beer in there. I mean it doesn't matter, I don't have a chp as of yet, but am shocked they sell beer in there.
