CrossBreed Holsters

Anyone here have positive/negative experiences with CrossBreed Holsters? Looking for a little something for myself for Christmas and I am intrigued by the unit's set-up.

Primarily I use a Galco three-slot holster either at 1600 or 1700 (depending on OC or CC); for the SIG P226.

I carry a compact 1911 in a Crossbreed Super-Tuck IWB. It's hands down the best holster I've ever used for CC.

ORS - thanks for the response, did you go with the "combat-cut" or the standard...? Its an $8 difference so no price-point issues there, but more of functionality and fit.

OK, I ordered the SuperTuck about a week ago - the site says give em 2-3 weeks for delivery; got it in ONE week

I've had this holster for 48hrs (wearing about 8hrs first day, then 4hrs second - hey, I had to go to WashDC, so only thing I could carry... opps, this is a family-site); wearing today all-day (sun up/down, inside and outside house and during errands). I carry a full-size SIG (P226), forgot that I am even carrying it, this rig is NICE.

It will take me time to get used to reach-draw-engage - versus that of the Galco holster (OWB with thumb-break), but so far, the only complaint would be that the SIG's de-cocker does "hang-up" on re-holstering (NOT draw, and that is what REALLY matters). To address, I am using weak-side hand to push back against the leather/paddle form, which is fine for me as I shoot "Weaver stance" and there is "fluid" in the motions.

... now if I could just get rid of the naturally causing abnormality that has seemed to attract gravity in the mid-section with older-age.... this would all work-out great. Oh well, there is always 2010 Resolutions....

Out of curiosity, how "tuckable" is it? Can you wear slacks and a button up shirt tucked in?

LFS, the wife doesn't carry, so I use her as my "tester" of visibility if I am carryng or not. With the Galco (OWB) with sweater over; she states that she can see a print. With SAME sweater, and the CB-SuperTuck she states that she cannot see anything.

Moving to pants/dress shirt set-up (khaki's and jeans, have not tried with dress/suit pants yet).

If you stare you can see a "print" if I walked by (I did that this AM heading out to walk dog and asked her) she said could not tell if I was carrying - she assumed that I was, because I do all the time, but could not see/tell from me walking 6ft in front of her with strong-side facing.

Since this is a new rig for me, I am still "working out the kinks" both body-shape (need to do some sit-ups) and also familiarity with the rig (i.e. I have NOT worn outside the house/community fully tucked - don't want to be fumbling around like Barney Fife if I need to draw and can't because I haven't practiced, practiced and practiced some more on this rig).

Heading to the mall at 1200hrs, will full tuck; and since inside (no need for heavy winter coat or sweaters) I'll see if I get any Gieco-eyes from folks while shopping, and report back here.

** Gotta say a thanks to ORS for responding, this is a good rig so far - and I absolutely LOVE the fact that the warranty it comes with, states that CB will replace any damaged or faulty products, or even if i want adjustments (on the Kydex material) that they will do so - free, just ship it back to them with instrcutions, etc.

Unsure; head to the CB website, since I am using the rig at 1600 or 1700 I didn't look for cross-draw capabilities, but do remember reading (quickly, cursory) that for certain combination holster/weapon rigs that CB offers, that cross-draw and appendix carry were not recommended. Again, that was a quick once-over read for me since it was not what I was looking for in a rig, so hit the site there is plenty of information there (i.e. matching holster, type of holster, weapon, rig possibilities, etc).

anyone get the gunbelt? I ask because i just put them both in my cart.
I have been using a cheap holster for a couple years and want to do it right so i am getting the horsehide and a belt and was curious on how people feel about it

I like my crossbreed holster but at the time I didn't know others existed. Try a google search for 'hybrid holster'.

Glad to hear you like it. I've noticed that the belt makes a world of difference with this holster. A thick 1-1/2" leather belt works best for me as it tends to move around on a narrower or flimsy belt.

Agreed; I have 2-3 belts, all 1.0 to 2.0 that I use for carry, depending on situation and dress-code requirements. All are thick belts by any standards (this allows for vertical strength). Did not look at the CB offered belts from the site; only wanted the holster for now. Personally, because I am a few pounds over what I'd like to weigh, didn't see the need to purchase a belt for larger size than needed, then have to muck-it-up with additional holes as needed.

OK, wore the CB SuperTuck today for most of the day; everything stated earlier still applies. The only "con" that I found was - and is typical of any holster - driving and the seatbelt. While I do not carry at 1500, the seat-belt always makes the rig ride tight. This occurs with the Galco and the CB SuperTuck - so there maybe "user-error" involved here.

The only other "con" (minor) is that the holster will give you a "wedgie" if you still dress military-style (i.e. everything tucked, to keep crisp lines - externally). Now the CB SuperTuck's leather inner-paddle is still brand-new and being broken-in, so as the leather frees up a bit, I anticipate that this issue will correct itself over time.

All in all, a good purchase IMHO; as my collect increases, I'll definite place CB products on the top of the list for IWB rigs - the OWB probably will never be a purchase for me; just do not trust "friction-retention" for OWB or OC'g minus a thumb-break or someother type of internal retention capability (i.e. BlackHawk Sherpa, etc).

I use a CrossBreed Supertuck for my Glock model 30 .45 caliber. I wear it 8-12 hours a day and I love it. I just bought a good stiff belt today at Kmart of all places. It was $13.00 and it worked great for supporting the gun and holster. I'm sure the belts sold by holster makers are much better quality and more durable, but for 13 bucks I figured I can't go wrong. If it lasts a year or two I will get my money out of it. I would definitely recommend the Supertuck to anyone looking for an IWB holster. I use shirts from a big and tall store, I'm 6'3", 285 lbs and the extra length lets me tuck the shirt in and blouse it out a little. With the shirt tucked in you can't see a thing. With a tshirt untucked it's also invisible.
