Fiochi .40S&W 170gr FMJ in an XDm

Post by LFS »

I've been having some feed problems with Fiochi .40 S&W 170gr FMJ ammo in my XDm. I can't figure it out. It happens with all five magazines, and the mags don't have to be fully loaded or even half loaded to cause the problem. It seems the rounds are getting hung up and not feeding into the chamber correctly. This happens on initial load either via racking the slide or letting a racked slide close using the slide release and it sometimes happens when the action is being cycled by fire.

After initially having the problem, I cleaned the gun and tried again today. I had the same result with 100 rounds. But then I was able to put 50 rounds of PMC 165gr FMJ through the gun with not one hiccup. I've also used Winchester 180gr FMJ rounds in the past with no problems.

Any advice? Is there anything I should look for? Or is it that this particular gun doesn't like Fiochi 170gr ammo?

I had a problem with Fiochi rounds in an old German Walther, wouldn't eat them nicely, keep jamming like you say. Not much help, but suffice to say I had a problem with them.
