Virginia is Taking on the Feds
Virginia is Taking on the Feds
A new campaign called the Virginia 10th Amendment Revolution is sweeping the state of Virginia. This movement is targeting the federal government’s over-reaching powers not delegated to it by the states.
Citizen activist groups are banding together to take this revolution to the 2010 legislative session of the Virginia General Assembly. They are calling on legislators to defend state’s rights under the 10th amendment with the Virginia Firearms Freedom Act (VFFA) and the Virginia Healthcare Freedom Act (VHFA).
Delegate Charles (Bill) Carrico will lead the charge in the House on the VFFA, a 10th amendment challenge to the powers of Congress under the commerce clause that prohibits the federal regulation of firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition manufactured and retained in Virginia.
Delegate Robert (Bob) Marshall will stand up to the feds with a VHFA in the House to challenge the powers of the federal government to mandate the purchase of federally approved healthcare coverage by every citizen under the threat of steep fines and jail time.
This effort to reassert the state’s constitutional authority did not begin with the 10th Amendment Revolution. There had already been widespread opposition to the Real ID Act, dubbed Dangerous ID, in Virginia that resulted in legislation that was passed into law in the 2009 session that would prohibit certain provisions in the law that would compromise the economic privacy, biometric data, or biometric samples of any resident of the Commonwealth.
News of the 10th Amendment Revolution is going viral and is sure to shake things up in the 2010 session of the General Assembly. Members of this movement will not be silent any longer. They aim to make their voices heard at a lobby day/rally to be held on January 18th on capitol grounds in Richmond.

It's a nice idea and a valiant effort, but the Fed's will choke it out. The representatives we have "serving" the commonwealth are quite happy with the way things are developing. They will always go along with D.C. in order to keep the arteries flowing.....

Well then why don't you hunker back down into your lazy boy and let somebody else fight for your rights. You disapoint me friend, all the posts I see you make here and then when the Health Care vote goes the way we all knew it would you seem willing to lay down and give up. The attitude you have right now is the reason our country is so f-d up.GS78 wrote:It's a nice idea and a valiant effort, but the Fed's will choke it out. Too many people have said "There's nothing I can do. The country is going to poop. What can I as one person do to change that?" followed closely by "Oh look, the new season of [insert reality TV show or sitcom here] is on."
Look at the Vietnam protesters, when enough people got out into the streets to protest it you better beleive the gov't heard them. In fact towards the end of the way, a narrow majority still approved of the war but look at the stink the protesters made.
According to Rasmussen, 55% of the population are against health care. If 55% of the population in the 1960's disagreed with the Vietnam War, don't you think the streets would have been chaos?
So what is this 55% of the polling public doing about it?
Eh, I dunno but I have to go, the Office is on TBS.

look sport, I hardly need a lecture from you. Are you really trying to tell me if I look out my fu*king window I will see 55% of people in the streets protesting this bill? You cannot be that dillusional can you? The fact is that Americans ARE FAT AND LAZY! The majority want the government to "do all it can for them"Username wrote:Well then why don't you hunker back down into your lazy boy and let somebody else fight for your rights. Is that the same letter you wrote to Webb? You managed to completely miss the point of what I was saying, which wasn't directed at you other than to say "Don't give up!" and construe it into something completely different.GS78 wrote:look sport, I hardly need a lecture from you. I apologize deeply if you misunderstood me, this conversation was not about Vietnam, it was about people needing the kick in the ass to get out there and protest something they don't beleive in.
I said Americans are fat and lazy. Are you content to let them remain that way or will you be one of the ones who stands up (again & again) for what they beleive in.
The fact Sir, is that you pissed me off when you pissed on another fellow American (the OP) when he tried to get us to get off our ass and go support something.
If you think you paid your dues and you're entitled to a break, I wholeheartedly am willing to beleive (not knowing you) that that is the truth. But I would like to beleive there are people here who want to keep fighting for their rights.
Like I said in the body of the post, I don't know you, and I don't know where you been, and nothing I posted has any bearing, implications, or suggestions as to that.
I'm just one guy telling another guy not to give up fighting just because it seems "helpless".
If you can misconstrue that into something else, then I again apologize.

Hey GS78, you walked the valley that's all that need be said, you my friend don't owe any type of explanation to anyone. I am sure that many people both here and across this country have no idea what the A shau valley is or how bad it was there. I busted a few cap's in your AO and across the country.

Yes, I do. Just because our elected jackasses are acting like, well, jackasses doesn't mean we should. A little Christmas spirit goes a long way this time of year.LFS wrote:I remember when this forum use to be about guns.

Re: Virginia is Taking on the Feds
We're all on the same side here...the specter of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) hanging over us makes us all a bit testy. Don't give up, gang.
While the Senate health bill's passage is a blow, and something the libs consider a decisive step, the fat lady hasn't sung yet. It still faces numerous legal challenges, and it still faces the merger of the differing House and Senate bills. Every moment that is used up moves us one moment closer to the mid term vote of 2010. I believe there are enough angry, fed-up Americans out there to make a difference next year. We can enact change to remove these chains.
To bring this back to the topic of guns...we all suspect (and rightly so) that the Second Amendment will be the next step for them...
That said:
"Praise the Lord we're on a mighty mission!
All aboard, we're not a - goin' fishin;
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition and we'll all stay free!"
...and as always, to those that serve and served, and especially to those that have walked that valley...my most sincere and humble thank you.

Re: Virginia is Taking on the Feds
Big thumbs up to you brother. Too many have this attitude of a defeatist. I'm not sayin GS78 does but too many do. We all need to man up and figure out that its time to start doing what our Founders wanted. And that is putting these twits in office on the street and getting some folks in their that will defend our Constitution. Once that is done then we need to stand watch over them and smack them down if it even looks like they gonna step out of line from what we the people want. Between now and then we have a real mess on our hands and its unclear at the moment how to deal with it. The liberals have clearly demonstrated that they will stop at nothing to push their agenda through. I'm afraid for our country and very afraid that someone may get fed up enough to start some crap. Then its all over. We do need to hunker down a little to ride this one out. Doing anything that would give obama an excuse to declare martial law would be a big big problem for us and many others. That would be the beginning of the end...Username wrote:Well then why don't you hunker back down into your lazy boy and let somebody else fight for your rights.
