No Weapons sign in Veterans Association Clinic

Post by herohog »

Does the "No Weapons" sign on the front desk inside the Veterans Association Clinic negate my CHP?

This is obviously a case where semantics come into play. Did the sign say "no weapons" or "no concealed weapons."

You could also argue (if you are caught) that you dont have a weapon. You have a concealed instrument that expresses your right to the 2nd Amendment...

It's hard to say, but make sure you can still conceal under that flimsy paper gown they make you wear.

IIRC we've been down this road before and determined that an LCP, or P3AT, can in fact be concealed regardless of dress- or lack thereof.

If the facility is US Government owned or a private entity then yes they can ban weapons CHP or not. The difference is in penalty. If US Gov. they can throw you in jail for violations, for a private location they can ask you to leave and if you do not, charge you with trespassing.

OK, so what is Veterans Administration Property? The sign is about 2x8" and is on a cubical wall after you enter the building. I took the safe way out and had my wife put my bag in the car's trunk.

Indeed as it is no doubt federal property or could be declared such.

You betcha. Federal facilities include rented space. You can't carry in the building at all - when you go into a federal building, you leave Virginia and enter the U.S. BTW, the sign isn't technically required, they're just being nice in warning you.

You should tell them, that you were trained to kill america's enemies , as such you ARE a weapon, and then ask their advise.......
