Ruger LCP
Ruger LCP
Just in case anyone cares, I picked one of these things up last week and had a chance to shoot it yesterday.
I think it is a pretty cool unit. Obviously grip can be a challenge, but it shot well and was acurate.
I set up some sporting clays at about 20 feet and was pleased at how well they broke. The .380 rd is quite manageable also.
Drops right into your pocket when you are done, or when you are getting started.

Re: Ruger LCP
You are right, the gun is accurate, almost to my surprise. I have been shooting sporting clays that i set up on a backstop. Fun to watch the dust.
I just ordered a crimson trace for it, mostly for the cool factor
I also just picked up some ammo off of this site. I am set.

Re: Ruger LCP
Congrats on your new gun, I really like my LCP as well - people at the indoor range always stop to ask what I'm shooting... it is really accurate, especially for the awesome sites on it..
I carry DoubleTap ammo in the thing, and it's a noticeable difference between that and the practice ammo - I don't shoot the good stuff as often, but try to shoot it every now and then to remember how stiff it recoils if I have to use it in a hurry...

My wife has one also, and it has the CT laser & finger extensions on it.
I've been trying to get her to trade me for my Glock 27 but she won't give in.

I hope my crimson trace will be here by wed. Looking forward to getting it installed and sighted in.
I actually am looking around for an owb holster with a mag pouch. Would love any input on this item.

Re: Ruger LCP
desantis makes a nice OWB but it wont fit the CT.
best thing i can suggest is goto a gun dealer with a good selection of universal holsters and try them out plus you can always carry the extra mag in a "multitool" belt pouch and wear it on your weak side...
just my .02

I might just have to get me one of those. Thanx for posting that pic John.

Re: Ruger LCP
Picked one up from Gander Mtn. I got an ankle holster for $30. They are always high there, but no one else around here had the LCP. They had the LCR but wanted way to much for it. The LCP shoots well and it was based off the Kel-Tec. They didn't put a patent on it and next thing you know.. Ruger took the idea and ran with it. I am looking at the square pocket holster. Anybody seen these. Here is a link. www.elsiepeaforum.com/SquareHolster2.png

I have that CT on my PM9, love it and I use a Blackhawk OBW Size 5 designed for Glock Sub-compact. Come to the Gunshow tomorrow and try out some holsters.40shooter wrote:My wife has one also, and it has the CT laser & finger extensions on it.

Re: Ruger LCP
Picked one up today. Ordered 2 Pearce finger extensions as well. They will extend the length of the bottom of the mag by 1/2".
Going to the range tomorrow to shoot it. Hopefully I can find some ammo before then...

Re: Ruger LCP
Here's a pic of the one I bought a week ago. Cant pick it up yet, that whole 30 day thing. Yes, I have a CCW permit, but from my home state. I already recieved one Multiple Weapons Purchase permit from the state PD this month, not sure how they would look at me trying to get another. This pic is of it from the shop that did the work on it for the previous owner.

Re: Ruger LCP
The LCP is a great little gun. I just bought this holster for it:
http://www.concealmentconcepts.com/pocketpal.htm

It's a great holster for shooting through a coat pocket and it's surprisingly comfortable to hold. (I haven't shot with it yet though)
I'm a little leery about fully drawing it in a stressful situation. The round hole is for your middle finger and I'm worried that it may be possible to get the finger hole and the trigger hole confused when "under fire". Maybe I just need to practice with it more.
The Recluse holster mentioned above looks interesting. Anyone have one?

Re: Ruger LCP
Doesn't that "shoot through" holster make it an AOW? I know some do with some guns...

Re: Ruger LCP
The barrel is actually ABOVE the holster as you look at it in the picture. Not in it. Don't think its an AOW.

Re: Ruger LCP
If thats the case, and it will work with my Kel-Tec, where do I get one again?

Re: Ruger LCP
They do fit Kel-Tecs and Seecamps. My link above sells them and other companies have similar holsters in a slightly different leather design.herohog wrote:If thats the case, and it will work with my Kel-Tec, where do I get one again?
They are not considered AOWs because the slide is exposed.
It's an unusual holster and not for everyone so it may be best to try one out at a gun show.

Re: Ruger LCP
I have to say that it seems particularly dangerous as one of the reason for having a pocket holster is to cover the trigger. Otherwise, I don't see the point of having it at all. Just put the gun in your pocket.
Re: Ruger LCP
It disguises the shape of the gun and eliminates the time it takes to draw the gun from the holster. Milliseconds count.
