New Toy.

Post by k24556 »

Just got back from buying a new Win 1885 in .223 Now it is decision time, scope or iron sights. it came with no sights so if iron ends up the choice, then the front will have to be drilled. Any ideas or thoughts are welcome. Here it is in the new home with the other residents.

If it doesn't have a front sight on it already, I'd just put a scope on it. Lot's less work.

Gotta love those single shot rifles. IMO you just cant beat their simplicity or accuracy. Very nice.

Thanks. It is a nice rifle. You have to appreciate the genius of JM Browning. I'm ending up at the Leupold scope as a sight for it. I really had a mind to put a tang sight and a nice front. However, i'm finding out that no one makes a good front ramp sight for this rifle. The ones that are out there are too wide. The other alternative is to have a dovetail milled in the front, but I haven't gathered up the courage to have someone mill the barrel for a dovetail. If anyone knows a really great gunsmith in Central VA, I'd appreciate a lead.
