Virginia State Senator Ralph K. Smith (R - Roanoke) has pre-filed Senate Bill 3 ahead of the 2010 Virginia General Assembly session. SB 3 would require Clerks of Virginia's Circuit Courts to accept renewal applications for concealed handgun permits by mail and to mail the permit to the applicant once it approved by the court.

That's how I renewed mine last time. I mailed them the application and they mailed me my new permit. I thought maybe it was standard procedure in every county.

In VA Beach, we have to hand deliver a renewal form to the central police HQ. I guess I thought that was the case for everyone.

That reminds me...

Didn't the General Assembly pass, several years ago, a bill establishing CHP's for life? I seem to recall that for it to go into effect "funding" would have to be approved. Does any one else recall anything along those lines? Would be nice to get someone to follow through and get lifetime permits activated.
