Take a look at this surveillance video, given to NewsChannel 3 by Virginia Beach Police.

A man holding a gun walks right up to a woman as she tries to use an ATM and robs her right at the driver's side window.

"She was smart, did the right thing. Complied with him, gave up the money and then he fled on foot," said Adam Bernstein of Virginia Beach Police.

Police say Saturday night the woman in the video was dropping off the night cash deposit from her job when she was robbed at the Bank of America near Lynnhaven Mall.

On Friday night, Hampton police say a man was robbed at a drive-through ATM in their city. This robbery happened at the Bay Port Credit Union on Cunningham Drive. The suspect in that incident also had a gun.

Police say more and more of these crimes may come up as the holidays get closer and crooks get desperate for cash.

"If the person is armed, your money is replaceable, you're not. We always tell people to be compliant with the robber, we dont know what the mindset is of this person, if they have a gun in their hand, we have no idea what they are going to do with that," Bernstein added.

Police also say to be careful when using any type of ATM, and if you do find yourself in this unfortuanate situation:

"Get as best description as you can, try to see where they went, the direction of travel, clothing description, facial description, as much information as you can give to detectives we can follow up on that."

That robbery suspect is still on the loose. Virginia Beach police say he was last seen here at the Bank of America at Lynnhaven Mall on Saturday night wearing all black clothing and white tennis shoes. If you have any information that can help police you're asked to call the crime line. That number is 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Remember you can remain anonymous and you could win a reward of up to $1000.
