New-ish to VA

Post by AZGunGuy83 »

Good Evening All!

I am new to this forum, and new(again) to VA. Just moved here from Kalifornia, I’m retired Army and the boss is Active duty Navy and we are stationed in Charlottesville for the next two years. We have both been stationed in VA before and we are just happy to be out of the People’s Republic!

We have been driving to Green Top three times a week to shoot, but I am on the look out for a new place to shoot this closer than an hour and fifteen mins each way. I also get a chance to go through my collection and trim it down since I couldn’t have anything in Cali and it all sat in a bunch of safes in my brother garage in AZ!

Well, I am looking forward to digitally meeting you all and remember, “be equipped, each with a Firelock, sixty rounds of powder and ball, and a hatchet, at all times!!”

Have a good evening all!!

You might want to consider the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club.
Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club

The club is located near Charlottesville Virginia in southern Albemarle County about 4 miles south of I-64 (Exit 120) at 1570 Old Lynchburg Road Route 631, (5th Street extension).

If you don't mind riding with a mobility challenged Navy vet. I could take you out there sometime as a visitor.

Welcome back to Virginia! Sadly, I don't believe that the Commonwealth is in as good shape as you may have left it. Lots of changes, many for the worse.

And, welcome to the forum.

I'm a few hours away from Charlottesville, and I'm afraid that I don't know anything about the range situation, there. I occasionally shoot in my backyard, and my neighbor also has a better suited area for shooting, in his. So, I tend not to seek out ranges, anyway.
