It's not just the 2A they're after
There's a ton of new laws that are prefiled that can have just a big, if not worse, impact than those attacking our 2A rights. I scanned through http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?201+lst+ALL and here's what immediately jumped out at me. I'm sure I've missed a few and they're adding new ones all the time...
Voting:
HB-18/HB-25/HB-191/HB-203/HB-207/HB-208/HB-209/HB-220/HB-238/HB-239 Absentee voting; no-excuse
HB-19/HB-190 Voter ID repeal
HB-26/HB-215/HB-219/HB-232/HB-235 Voter registration
HB-177/HB-199 National Popular Vote Compact
HB-185/HB-187/HB-201 Voter registration
HB-178/HB-179/HB-198 Voting Recounts
HB-213 Acceptable forms of Voter ID
HB-241 Protected Voter Status
SB-43 Absentee voter list release prohibition
SB-45/SB-46/SB-111 Absentee voting
SB-65/SB-113 Voter ID repeal
SB-74 Voter Registration on election day
SB-92 Voter preregistration
SB-123 Voter ID, expired Drivers License is valid
SB-137 Absentee voting; early voting in person no excuse
SB-174 Electoral collection vote allocation
SJ-6 Governor's term (increasing from 1 to 2 terms maximum)
Firearms:
HB-72 Child access to firearms
HB-78 Firarms purchase
HB-142/HB-192 CHP Comptence test
SB-12 Firearm Transfers
SB-13 Capital Square weapon possession
SB-14 Trigger activators
SB-15 Commonwealth building weapon prohibition
SB-16 Assault firearms prohibition
SB-22 Handgun purchase limitations
SB-51 Handgun/alcohol penalty
SB-64 Paramilitary activities
SB-67/SB-85 Lost/Stolen Firearm nonreporting penalty
SB-69 Handgun purchase limitation
SB-70 Firearm transfers penalty
SB-71 Firearms on various properties prohibited
SB-75 Access to firearms/minors
SB-76/SB-82 Firearms/Protective Orders penalty
SB-83 Brandishing/Law enforcement penalty (holding is considered brandishing, so is anything that may look like a gun)
SB-88 Firearm discharge
SB-173 Stun weapon prohibition on school property (CHP exempted)
Other
HB-41 Adverse childhood experiences
HB-181 Eliminate the Robert E Lee statue
HB-152 Rezoning to allow middle housing [Higher density housing in single family subdivisions]
HB-227 Abortion
SB-21 Abortion - eliminate parental consent
SB-104 Vaccinations/Immunizations minors may consent (without parental knowledge or consent)[Direct attack on Parent's rights]
Notice how much there is about voting, and in particular voting id, absentee voting, and bypassing the intent of the electoral college. If they end up changing how the voting operates, it can be used to, well... I'm sure you can guess. If they consistently get and increase the votes, it's just a matter of time for everything else to be eliminated, to include hunks of our Constitution, as we are disenfranchised more and more. If you have some time, email, call, talk with others about what's going on not just on the 2A front as well as your representative and bill sponsors to voice your opinions. Even if you don't think they'll listen (and many probably won't), with enough people they'll have no choice but to actually acknowledge something. In fact, one delegate's district phone ended up being disconnected and I'm sure it was "unintentional" (https://www.facebook.com/delgdavis and look at the 24 Dec post). Statists are really pushing hard to, as Northam said, to fundamentally change Virginia.

Re: It's not just the 2A they're after
Tough to keep up with all the bills they're adding. They now have bills about Indoor ranges, outdoor ranges/shooting on personal property, ammunition (reading that as restrictions on wolf, barnaul, etc), 10% tax on ammo, a "voluntary" do-not-sell list (people "voluntarily" add themselves to a list which restricts their 2A rights), localities can make their own restrictions on firearms - eliminates preemption, eliminate firearm manufacturer protections from lawsuits, reciprocity controlled by the AG, etc.
This is unbelievable. Even if this stuff doesn't pass, the voting stuff will eventually ensure it gets adopted at some point.

It really is unbelievable. There are so many horrible bills. They are literally flooding the legislature with stupidity.

I guess they figure that if they throw enough chit, something is bound to stick.

I've been thinking that for over a month.SHMIV wrote:I guess they figure that if they throw enough chit, something is bound to stick.
I think their plan is to propose so many outrageous bills that we will let a few of the less objectionable bills slip through.
Basically causing us to waste all our energy on the obviously unconstitutional bills that they don't expect to pass anyway.

I am pretty sure some of them will pass. They know the people are too weak to do anything. All bark, no bite.

I don't think they're gonna get the reception, or reaction they expect to get...

It's all cleverness foisted on us by out-of-staters - and in many case, foreign national interests. This is to move the USA to a centrally controlled system.

The courts are going to be busy soon. I just hope they stand for the Constitution.
We really are the test case for the rest of the country. It's no coincidence that many similar laws are being pushed by Dems in other states.
I believe some of these laws, have so much room for disaster, SCOTUS will have to look at them. The Red Flag law alone, appears to violate the 1st, 2nd, & 4th amendments. The law about criticizing politicians seems such an easy slam dunk violating the 1st.
I hope the courts side with the people, & set a record for most legislation overturned from one session.

Its going to take years to clean up their mess. Years.
