Wondering what the general likes/dislikes are out there on CLP products. A friend (former county sheriff/swat) suggest two products - Break Free CLP and Slip 2000 Extreme Weapons Lubricant. Haven't found them here yet. Any input appreciated.

Never heard of Slip 2000 Extreme Weapons Lubricant. Break Free CLP is okay.

For cleaning, I have been using Hoope's #9 for 30 years. However, I only use it as a cleaner. I wipe it off and lube with other products. Every time I try something new, I am disappointed.

For parts that "need" fluid oil lube (trigger hinges for example), I use FP-10 Lubricant Elite.

For all other parts, such as slides, BGS, trigger catches and sears, etc., I use Lucas Oil "Red N Tacky #2" high temp grease. (540 degree drop point, high temp bearing grease.)

Thanks Marc. Just got this stuff called "Original Gun Oil." Says it's a CLP product and only a few drops on a cleaning patch does it all. Non-toxic, made in USA, and $1 from every sale goes to support vets. Kind of pricey at $14.99/2 oz and maybe I'm one of many that went for the bait. We'll see how it performs.

Hoppe's #9 for cleaning, since 1969. Only other thing I've used is a black powder cleaner for cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo in my M1A (S&B corrosive surplus) or AR15 (5.45X39 Russian surplus).

From 1969 till today I use 3n1 oil for lube. I have added Mobil 1 as a lube for about the last 12 or 13 years so now I use either one, just depends on what I've got in the bag/container/on the shelf.

The only grease I use is marine grade bearing grease on the M1 Garands, M1A and the SIG 556R.

so I'm not a grunt who only has room to cary 1 bottle of gun care stuff, so I don't have any multi-taskers on my chemical shelf.

Ol #9 has done me well for removing powder residue.

For lube, I've been a rem-oil user for a lot of years, I lucked into a large stock, cheap. It seems to work so I've never looked for better.

I use Frog Lube. Every YouTube comparison I've seen where it's been put up against everything else has it placed in the top 2 or 3. The reviewers are torture testing the crap out of it. The reason why it's #1 in my book is it's kid friendly. The youngest kid I have at home is 18 months old. She's smart, but like a typical kid her age, everything goes in the mouth. She's not my biggest concern though. I have a 5 year old with impulse control issues. He likes to eat everything he can. If he found the cleaner I have no doubt in mind that he'd try it, too. He's probably a future Marine Infantryman(that's a crayon-eater reference coming from this former jarhead). With Frog Lube I can take care of my guns and take care of my children.

A range buddy suggested Wipe-Out/Patch-Out and it has worked great IMO. Around $15-$20 for a 8 oz Bottle that last a very long time. To help it work quickly, a bottle of Accelerator is also available. It's the same size and price. One of the things I like about it is the ability to apply with a wet patch at the range, then finish cleaning it up to 24 hours later, which allows me to clean my rifles/pistols at home the day after. It's available at most vendors - I think I bought mine at Natchez or Midway. Of course, like most everyone else, I grew up using Hoppe's so it's always around.

If it's just one pistol cleanup, I use Hoppes to clean, and Clenzoil or SLP 2000 to lube.

After a busy day at the range, it's Janitor's ammonia cut with 2 parts water, for lead & copper buildup.
Brown Vinegar for dirt, Dawn with about 4 parts water for cleanup, and Mobil1 for lube.
