Went to the outdoor pistol/rifle range at NVGC to sight in the new 10/22. Started out at 50 yards, but couldn;t make heads or tails of it. Had to move to the 25 yard range and finally got it sighted in pretty well there. Ended up shooting through about 500 rounds of .22 and a couple boxes of .40 cal. It was a great afternoon to be out there after all of the rain last week.

Rick, if you plan on acquiring more rifles you might want to consider a laser boresight- they make zeroing a scope much easier. Wal-Mart carries a one-size-fits-all similar to this one. It helps get on paper quicker.

Yeah, I like that idea. I must have shot up 200 rounds before I got it straightened out.

Maybe TheWife will see this thread. A boresight would make a great stocking stuffer.

Are those rings/mounts for the scope the kind you can look through and use the iorn sights also? They look kinda like it.

Yes, they are the "look through" type. I have heard bad things about them, but that actually helped the kids get sighted in, so it was pretty handy.

The recoil from the .22 might cause the scope to hit them.

Nothing really wrong with them, sometimes it's hard to zero a rifle that has them on it. I had them on my .30-30 but found that without having them machined I couldn't get the elevation right so I took them off.

Yes, ears and eyes. She had eyes right next to her. I try to stay on top of it - thinking that the 15 y.o. will have the sense to remember what I tell her. yeah, right.

Henry makes some nice youth (small) single shot bolt actions BTW.
