Hello all. I just moved to Richmond from PA. I am in the North Chesterfield/Bon Air area. Any advice regarding gun stores or ranges to patronize or to avoid would be great. Actually I would appreciate any gun related advice that is specific to VA. I'm still very much getting my bearings.

It's been a while since I've been to a gun store in your area, so I'd be hard-pressed to recommend one. Though, I don't recall anything unpleasant, in regard to the one near the mall in Petersburg. Off the top of my head, I can't recall the name of the mall, or store.
And ranges, well, I tend to find places, outside, in the country, when I shoot. So, I'm no help, their, either.
On the upside, I can tell you that we can open carry without a permit, in Virginia. And, as far as I know, a Virginia citizen can still sell a firearm to another Virginia citizen, without government intrusion, and without involving any 3rd parties. (Provided, of course, that the purchaser is able to legally possess the firearm)
Others will trickle in, and likely be far more useful than myself.
I did want to welcome you, though, both to the Commonwealth and to the forum.

Welcome Patrick....Being in the Bon Air area you are close to Bob's Gun Shop on Hull St. Rt. 360 West of Richmond . They have pretty fair prices and will deal on Firearm purchases.....You are not to far from Dance's in Colonial Hghts. either.....I've bought several guns from Gun Worx in Hopewell too. You should check them out when you can .
