I ran across this old post on Spearhead Trails Facebook page. It may be an old post, but maybe members here would comment or otherwise communicate to indicate there is (if there is; and I can't imagine there is not) wide support for such a thing and a much broader community that would use such a range than their interest group includes. There is a lot of funding out there right now to develop tourism as an alternative to coal mining. This would also work to reclaim an orphan coal mine somewhere as a range. Maybe you guys could see your way clear to fan these flames a little. There is still a lot of local support, but the prospect of drawing folks in from outside the area would be a powerful incentive.
Also, if any of you are into four-wheeling or "mudding", check out the local trails. They look pretty awesome to me.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

I'll see what I can learn. Don't know of much shooting in these 2 areas.
Most of this is in WV. McCoys is a place where they accommodate 4 wheel drives, motorcycles. North central WV -- Bluefields -- mainly 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. Some awesome hill climbs. Just over the border of WV up hwy 77 from Virginia.
My 2 sons and I went out 2005 for a 4 wheeler Poker run. We camped at Pipestem State Park. We just rode but spend about 5 hours on the 4 wheelers. It was pretty muddy from a rain all week prior to the weekend but we had a blast.
On another trip my 2 sons and their friends went out for a weekend. My oldest son attempted a hill climb on his 400 4 wheeler, got within 20 feet of the top and lost it. His 4 wheeler flipped about 15 times down the hill, bounced over another rider sitting on his 4 wheeler at the bottom. Bent the frame slightly and the rear axle. Other than that it wasn't too bad. I was amazed.
