No Guns Signs
As I was entering the local ABC store this morning a worker was scraping off the No Guns Sign . I made the comment to the guy " I see The State finally is getting smart and removing those signs ". He then told me the new , larger ones were on the way. I first thought I would maybe Boycott but , then I would have to go back to making my own. That's too much like Reloading Ammo and I don't have time for that either. I guess I will have to suck it up for now.

Virginia doesn't give us much of a choice... to say the least.
The only place I do business with that has a "no weapons" policy is Target. And that's only because I don't live near a Wal-Mart that is not ghetto. Woodbridge has a terrible store. When I do go to Wally World, I go to Manassas. They have good ammo prices there too!

Pretty weak... but I plan on fixing that tomorrow.
Re: No Guns Signs
Most recently I went into a LabCorp for a drug test for my new job, and a UPS pick up warehouse for a package. Both had no firearms signs. I don't pay any attention unless it's a legal building.
I do walk in with a grin every time I walk in a Target though. I guess they figure I'm there for a Starbucks.

Re: No Guns Signs
I went to a LabCorp facility to get a drug test for work. They had a no firearm sign on the door and I just ignored it and went right on in.
While I was getting ready to provide a sample, the lady working there said I had to empty all my pockets and take all my personal possessions and lock them in a safe that they had. They wanted to make sure I wasn't going to do anything to the sample that would taint the results.
I told the girl then I'm pretty sure she doesn't want me to leave everything in there. I told her I had a concealed handgun permit and I was carrying a handgun at the time. She just giggled a little bit and said it's okay you can keep that with you. LOL
I think a lot of those no firearm signs might be a corporate thing, but there's a good possibility most of the employees don't care. I almost wonder if that young lady even realize that they had a no firearms policy. She certainly acted like she didn't know or didn't care.

Re: No Guns Signs
Really, who takes the time to stop, outside the door in the heat/cold/wind/rain, etc. and stand there reading all the little signs?
I don't. I'm in a hurry to get out, get what I need and get home. If someone ever informs me, face to face, that they have some BS reason I can't be in their store then I'll inform them, face to face, why they will no longer get my business, or money, and I'll be checking out Amazon. The only way the brick and mortar stores are going to beat Amazon is to either offer items Amazon doesn't or offer better service. It's up to them.

Marc's case is special. But unless you open carry they should never know. I have passed through doors like the AMC Theater in Tanglewood Mall, Roanoke Va that (used to be Carmike). Carmike never had signs and did NOT sell alcohol. The new owner AMC has a small sign and does sell alcohol but I do not feel any safer so I carry.
If you get into a place and are questioned ask them "Can I spend some money first?" -- see how they react.
The No guns signs are camouflaged in all the other meaningless signs and I don't always see them.M1A4ME wrote:Really, who takes the time to stop, outside the door in the heat/cold/wind/rain, etc. and stand there reading all the little signs?...

Re: No Guns Signs
My thing? They may ask you to LEAVE, which then can be a trespass charge, but otherwise, they cannot do much.
Now the ABC stores? Those are supposed to be PUBLIC DOMAIN due to SALES! Same for the DMV! If someone got ARRESTED for carrying in one? That would force the Commonwealth to go to COURT, and in truth? They don't want to press that issue.
The most they could do? A Trespass charge, but with the right lawyer? You could appeal it to the SCOTUS, and reverse it.

I think the DMV and VABC are due to McAweful and his EO. I don't think that was codified, was it?

Re: No Guns Signs
In about 2005 the Ohio BMV deputy registrars contract was modified (AFAIK without authority) to require all BMV locations to be CPZs. When I called them on that, the answer I got was, "Because we can."MarcSpaz wrote:I think the DMV and VABC are due to McAweful and his EO. I don't think that was codified, was it?
It took a couple of years for all offices to be covered as their contracts were renewed.
I actually talked to the man that made the change to the contract. Definitely an anti-gunner.
I questioned this because the deputy registrar locations are neither state owned or state leased and the people working there aren't state employees. They are independent contractors.
