Action Shooting Sports Matches and Practices (P)
GET IN ON THE FUN! - Shoot steel, paper, and moving targets! IDPA & USPSA style shooting events. If you like to run, gun, and have fun attend the qualifier ($10) on 3/24 @ 9am or arrange a private session with Jeff Weiss to participate. MATCH EVENTS are on the first Saturday every month at 9AM. Fees and details will be announced on the I WLL calendar . Members shoot for less! ACTION WEDNESDAY PRACTICE: Practice your skills and learn with coaching on the third Wednesday of every month from 10am to 1pm on the pistol range. Additional practices will be held from 5pm to 7pm on the following Thursdays: 5/10, 6/14, 7/12, 8/9, and 9/13. You must pre-register for events/practices at joekincaid@earthlink.net. Please check the schedule before visiting the range! On rare occasions both ranges may be in use . We will post dates for unscheduled events (i.e. clinics, police use, maintenance, etc.) at the gate as far ahead of time as possible.

R & P meetings are scheduled at 6:30 PM on Feb.7, April 4 , June 6, Aug.1, Oct.3 , Dec.5 in 2018 at the Clubhouse. Please participate in the discussions and planning for YOUR club’s activities.

A WORD ABOUT RANGE MAINTENANCE

If you are reluctant to gather up your casings and your trash, please bring your mother along to clean up after you.( Just make sure she gets to shoot all she wants.)

From Bus. 29 North in Madison Heights, turn right onto Coolwell Road (Route 604), continue for approx. 3 miles, turn right on Izaak Walton Road (Route 663); the Park entrance ( 210 Conservation Lane) with large stone pillars will be a quarter mile ahead on the right. Follow the park driveway through campgrounds to the gated (open on event dates) range entrance. Travelers on Bus. 29 South can turn left at Faulconerville onto North Coolwell Road (Route 663) for 1.3 miles, then left on Izaak Walton Road. If driving on the Rte. 29 bypass take the Rte. 130 exit , go east 0.5 mi. to Izaak Walton Road on the left, 4 miles to 210 Conservation Lane on the left. Whatever your skill level, you are invited to participate in our matches.
Membership is not required but why not consider it? Park privileges include swimming, fishing, camping, archery, skeet & trap, & more.


ABOUT THE IZAAK WALTON LEAGUE OF LYNCHBURG

The local chapter of a national conservation organization located on 325 acres in Amherst County,VA ,
I WLL offers year-round camping, 2 lakes for swimming and fishing, archery range, rifle (300 yd.) and
pistol ranges (50 yd.) with benches and covers, and 5 trap & skeet ranges, new 5 stand .
Playground areas, handicap accessible restroom in the Clubhouse, picnic grounds, covered pavilion,
meeting room with audio/video center and kitchen are available to members and rental to organizations.

week ! R & P members must belong to the NRA, attend an orientation class and pass a multiple choice
range safety test. When coming to take the range safety test, bring proof of current NRA membership.


TRAP & SKEET SHOOTING AT IZAAK WALTON PARK

Izaak Walton’s Trap & Skeet Ranges are available to any park member in good standing. Three Trap fields
two Skeet fields , and 5-stand available. Become Operator certified and use the facility almost anytime ! Registered trap competitions are held on the first Saturday of each month.
