You won't see many commercial choices when it comes to higher end 7.62x39 ammo. Try Hornady Custom SST or PMC Bronze.

I didn't think the Lapua was match/Olympic grade. Is it? I don't know. Its a serious question.

Lapua is generally considered some of the better brass out there.

The thing about reloading for 7.62x39 is that historically the Russian bullet diameter is .311 inch while in the US, "7.62" uses .308 inch bullets. If you reload you have figure out which barrel diameter you have, if you want best accuracy.

Three or four years ago, when guys on another forum were going to the SIG 556R as a replacement for AK47's they posted videos of ringing steel targets at 600 yds. with those (scoped) Sig 556R and Lapua 7.62X39 ammo.

They mentioned several times that in their testing it was the most accurate/consistent ammo they'd found.

I'll bet this round has an almost artillery style trajectory to get out to 600 yds., but it was doing it consistently

So I have been doing some digging on the net to find someone who carries this, or a site that can ship this brand(Lapua) of ammo and I am striking out. Does anyone know where I can find this to give it a shot? No pun intended.

LoL. Well,you know... it's match grade... So it's gonna be more. Hahaha.

Unless you competing, I don't see the point. Especially when the AK47 was engineered for 1.5 MOA performance.

Well seeing as it is an AR47(not an AK) Built with an 18" Chrome line 8:1TR medium weight barrel, I'd hope to see better than 1.5MOA @100 which I have with Tula 123gr, and just at or a smidge over 1MOA @200.
Its a hunting rifle but I do like to see what all of my rifles I build are capible of with performance ammo in them, I by no means am going to 3 guns this weapon LOL

I've done some reading about the AR47 over the past year or so. I was a interested to say the least and really wanted to buy one. In my reading, some of the best shooters in the country, using highly accurized riffles and high-end loads were shooting .6 to .7 MOA groups. If you are getting 1 MOA groups with a non-accurized riffle and Tula ammo, you're already a winner as far as that gun and round are concerned.

I decided not to touch it because I my M4 and 300 BO are more accurate for much less money, and if I want consistant sub-MOA groups, bolt action rifles in .308 Win can do 3/8th MOA groups.

I'm glad you're having fun with it, but AR and AK platforms aren't meant for accuracy (including rifles with 18" barrels). They are Minute of Man combat weapons. I only mention all this because I don't think you should set your expectations much higher than where you are. Enjoy it, have fun, but don't be let down if it doesn't dial down any tighter.

I have a Thompson Center Encore pistol in 7.62 X 39, which i suppose can be called a "match" pistol. If i buy commercial ammo I use Hornady SST, but mostly I start with Lapua brass and load my own. The caliber is capable of above average accuracy even though its not designed for it. I usually get slightly above 1.5 MOA and lots of fun shooting it.

I am getting 1 1/2" groups with my cast load in my CZ527 using an NOE 155 gr gas checked bullet with 15 gr of IMR4227, first cast and load, now I start tweeting the load a bit. Loads of fun and as inexpensive as 22s.
