Too many close calls to count!

Post by JacobDW »

I was sweating by the time I got into my tree... little did I know I would be shivering in about 6hrs!

Anyway, Saw 7 deer today, including a HUGE doe, she looked like a horse. All the looks I got where too far or horizon shots. Only 1 deer was "takable" but he was a small yearling spike I had resolved not to kill; I was holding out for the brute with the crazy rack!

Also saw 10 turkeys, a bobcat, bunch of birdies, woodpeckers and woodcocks!

Oh and every dang squirrel in VA was fightin on my field, good show!

Round 2 is Monday! :packin:

Jacob, you can set a chair up at the end of our drive. We had a 6 pointer there the other evening.

Good luck bagging the monster.

Got a doe in the back yard that I swear must go at least 170 lbs or better on the hoof - largest one I've seen here in NoVA. Saw a 3x4 buck earlier this fall but haven't seen him in a while. Down side is that unless they allow an urban hunter permit for Algonkian Park the are safe except from cars (and paintballs when munching on the landscaping) :tommygun:

I have friend who was bow hunting out of a tree stand in Catharpin.

The squirrels were defeating his OPSEC until a hawk showed up.

Got real quiet all of a sudden.
