After reading this article it seems they choose to remain status-quo on the Chicago issues. They seem to know the problem isn't guns but the communities, lack of enforcement of laws and the inability to catch the crooks when so many of them are. They interview criminals, learn directly from them and just carry on as is... Seems it will never improve and we can look for a similar article Jan 2018.

Just think... Chicago is responsible for almost 8% of all firearms related murders in the US. That is staggering for 1 city. The Dems have been in charge since before I was born.

Gun deaths... 8% Chicago, 3.6% NYC, 3.2% from LA (CA), 3% from Detroit.

You're talking about near 18% of all gun related murders coming from 4 Democrat controlled cities with firearms bans.

That gun control thing is working really well for them.

I have issues when they kill INNOCENT people, how many of those 760 deaths had career criminal records? How many were after 11 PM? How many involved alcohol/drugs?

The media & most people in general are too afraid to say or acknowledge what the real problem is....

The high rate of young black men growing up without fathers. They go through their youth without discipline, & a father to guide, & mentor them with traditional values. They look up to other criminals. They join gangs looking for acceptance, & a sense of belonging & male bonding. Violence is normalized through television, music, etc... They buy into the myth that their only way out of poverty is selling drugs, & gang bangin. Too many young women allow this to happen & help create the environment by continuing to have children without fathers, & not working their way to a better life.

This problem is color blind. However, it affects the black community more because of the high rates of fatherless children. The welfare system, & culture of racism that is perpetuated by the media only adds fuel to these fires. Hard work, patience, self discipline vs. "easy money".

There are plenty of examples of people who have come from the worst of circumstances/environments, & pulled themselves into a successful life. Unfortunately, in a lot of these crime ravaged cities, they are the exception, not the rule.

There's a program on DTV channel 9.3 called "Drugs, Inc." It portrays the stark reality of the drug culture with the real-life players telling the story. They all have their faces covered to avoid positive identification. They talk of selling drugs to anyone who wants it and making tens to hundreds of thousands a week. What kid in a low socio-economic position can resist the urge to make lots of money in a short period of time?
