Wait. 1st Amendment and voting? The 1st Amendment has nothing to do with voting.

I get the point, and I don't disagree, but inserting additional rights into the Constitution just makes me cringe. Amongst other things, it makes me wonder if he actually knows what he's talking about, or did a blind squirrel simply find a nut?

I'm not sure he was including voting as an addition to the first amendment, but rather just trying to get through his talking points in an awkward manner before forgetting them. Or it could be crappy editing from the website.

One could make an argument that the First Amendment protects the Right to vote via the "redress of grievances" clause.

The Constitution does protect the right to vote. Article I, Section II, Clause I:

"The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature."

Using a different Right -- How would you apply a background check before a wrongful "Search and Seizure"?
