Not having much left of my monthly high-speed internet allotment, I didn't watch the video. I do wonder, though, if he uttered the phrase, "Hey, y'all, watchiss", before he started shooting.

I can't blame the guy for pulling that stunt. Really, watching stuff blow up is cool. But, he really should have considered the possibility of shrapnel.

when the directions say
Place ½ and 1 lb targets down range at least 100 yards before shooting.
Place 2 lb targets 200 yards down range before shooting. (2 pound targets are sold to professionals only)
Do not shoot targets larger than 1 pound unless it is required due to extreme long-range competition

and the user decides to place 3 lbs at < 15 yds, then I think some of the blame can be placed on the user of the product.

Absolutely. The user is 100% at fault. I just said that I understand the appeal of blowing up an old lawnmower with Tannerite and a rifle.

I probably would have doubled the recommended distance, if it were me. You know, to account for flying mower pieces. I might have also seen fit to build a barricade to stand behind.

Or, I might just take the same attitude that I do when I consider popping my truck into 4wd, then tearing up my field; I consider how much fun that would be (lots and lots), then consider the potential damage and expense (also, lots and lots). When the cheap thrills have potential to turn into expensive nightmares, I have learned to leave it in my imagination, where it belongs, lol. Just 'cause I think it, I don't have to do it.

Damn. At what point did I start thinking like a grown-up?

"He inadvertently used too much of the explosive and.."

That site needs an editor. No way that was, "inadvertent". Maybe "ignorant", maybe "stupid", but it wasn't "inadvertent" to use 6X the recommended amount at a fraction of the recommended distance.
My grandfather said, "Always use your head!".
I told him, "I want to pound nails!"
He said, "Best use a hammer instead."

Darwin almost always wins. However, these days we do put a lot of time and money into trying to beat him so those folks can survive, have babies, and raise them to be spittin' images of the folks Darwin was trying to remove from the gene pool.
