1. Legislative Update

Today some key items were voted on.
On the three “deal” bills, HB 1163 (deal #1), Delegate Webert’s reciprocity bill was changed to remove the enactment clause and, instead, the Virginia State Police would be required by law to determine which states require an agreement to honor Virginia CHPs and to enter into any such agreement. The bill passed the House 72 to 26 and heads to the Senate.
HB 1386 (deal #2), Delegate Lingamfelter’s voluntary gun show background check bill passed the House by 96 to 3.
HB 1391 (deal #3), Delegate Murphy’s bill to prohibit a person who is the subject of a *permanent* protection order for domestic violence from possessing firearms while the order is in effect, passed the House by 96 to 3.

HB 1096, Delegate Webet’s bill to undo the Governor’s state-agency gun ban passed its second reading and will be voted on tomorrow on the House Floor.
SB 677, Senator Chase’s bill to make the $10 fee that is charged by a Circuit Court Clerk for processing a CHP optional. The bill cleared the Finance committee and heads to the Senate Floor.

2. R.I.P member Jeff Wolfhope

Sarah Wolfhope, the daughter of VCDL member Jeff WolFhope, contacted VCDL to indicate her father had passed away.
Our condolences to the Wolfhope family.
Jeff had many VCDL friends and Sarah wanted to make sure they were aware of his passing.
Services will be Friday, February 12, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., (Rosary) at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030.
The Funeral Mass will be held, Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11 a.m., at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 3704 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA 22030
