M1 Garand

Post by Remek »

1945 Springfield M1, all matching! I've wanted one for many years! Very happy, even though I paid through the nose.

Nice looking rifle.

They can be great rifles. Very reliable, very accurate, very effective.

Nice looking rifle but if you paid threw the nose you might want to start checking parts. It doesnt appear to have lockbar sights which it should for a correct 1945 rifle. If you need help identifying parts PM me

You're right, there's no lockbar! I guess I wasn't qualified. I am going to call the seller and see about it. Thanks, and I will write if I have any more questions.

Check out http://usriflecal30m1.com/
This site will generate the parts list for your year rifle, just enter your serial number.

Also the Stock should have a stamp of the left side S.A./N.F.R.(with .437 Ordnance Wheel,.
188 Ordnance Wheel on bottom of pistol grip) 81/.81 butt stock holes, 1.75 inch channel, Straight clip latch relief.

Check the year on the Barrel to be sure it's original,
it should look like this
Image
SA = Springfield Armory
3 45 = March 1945

Your stock looks like a Arsenal rebuild stock, Overton most likely.

Very nice rifle anyway, I have a 1943 Winchester and a 1945 Springfield. and yes they should have lockbar sights.
here in my 45 Springfield
