Opinions: Silencerco Omega and SIG SRD556Ti

Post by MarcSpaz »

Hey folks... I am looking for real-world feedback from folks who own either the Silencerco Omega or the SIG SRD556Ti.

I have an AAC 762-SDN-6 that I have been moving from my 300 BO to my 516 and 716. There is a minor issue with the AAC ratchet mounting system that I don't want to deal with as far as moving the can from gun to gun. If you snug it up hand tight, the can moves on the QD mount a noticeable amount. Its bad enough that I am concerned about an impact on the business end.

Now, of course, if you use a vise, put the frame under you arm or between your legs, you can use two hands to snug the can up that last ratchet notch and the can simply wont move. The issue I don't want to deal with is, once you get some carbon build up and a few heat/cool cycles, it takes a major effort on a work bench to get the can off.

So, my plan is to move the 762-SDN-6 to my 716 and just leave it there all the time. Just never remove it.

Then, I am thinking about getting a Silencerco Omega for my 300 Blackout. It is super light compared to the AAC can and is a direct thread on. Since the 300 BO is a very light SBR, this seemed like the best move.

I am also looking to get a SIG SRD556Ti to mount on my SIG 516. It is also a direct thread and very light can.

Does anyone have any direct personal experience with either the Silencerco Omega or the SIG SRD556Ti?

Thanks in advance!

exact combo... no

But I can give you some other options to consider. I do like YHM's setup where the locking mechanism is on the FH/Brake. Makes it much easier to repair/replace if a locking mechanism goes bad. Also I've had no perceivable wobble on the mount.

The most stable mount will be a direct thread. It will be slower than any rapid mount that a FH uses for attach and detach. But suppressor mounting is usually not a hurried action. If you have any pistol cans, you might get double duty for subsonic 300 blackout, with a 9mm or larger can. I know my osprey is approved for such and I've found it works as well as a dedicated 30 cal rifle can, and is quite a bit smaller.

If you want some hands on time so you can feel the rigidity of mounting, just ask.

Silencerco has been at the game for years. They put out some quality products. Sig makes some fine products but sometimes the QC can be hit or miss. I'd rather get something that would be worth the hassle of the stamp. Gemtec makes a good piece as well although last time I used one was in 2005.

I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.
