Virginia Democrats/Anti-gun People are Dumb

Post by Chasbo00 »

This proposed mass revocation of Virginia's concealed carry permit reciprocity with over 20 other states has democrats and anti-gun folks gloating. It's a national news story before even being implemented. It will backfire - big time! Here's why:

Anti-gun people don't understand guns or gun owners. They just dislike both and will do whatever they can to reduce the numbers. Concealed carry permit holders have gone to considerable effort and expense to obtain their permits. These permits are highly prized by those who have them. When, all of a sudden, over two decades of establishing and vetting concealed carry reciprocity with many states is overturned and this overturning affects millions of permit holders, there will be consequences.

Note that above I said millions of permit holders. It's not just the nearly half-million Virginia permit holders affected it's also all the other permit holders in those 20-plus states who will no longer be able to legally carry concealed in Virginia that are affected. If they have a choice, permit holders don't visit places where they can't legally carry concealed - that's a fact. Virginia will lose millions upon millions of dollars in revenue from those millions of concealed carry permit holders whose permits are no longer valid in Virginia. Let me say that again, millions upon millions of dollars in lost Virginia revenue.

Once the people of Virginia, and in particular the state legislature, realize that this move is going to cost Virginia many millions in lost revenue, the democrats are going to feel the heat their dumb asses deserve.

You're assuming they'll make a connection.

If they were any good at connecting the dots, they'd note the correlation between strict gun laws and high crime rates, which is a much straighter line.

I'm speaking of the lay people, of course. When it come to politicians, gun control is really about people control; all sacrifices are worth it, to achieve people control.

That's why you need to speak in terms of dollars lost. Point it out to them loud and clear.

You could also point out that every time the Dems have tried to take ground on this issue, they have lost representative in the legislature that took it up. I might ask if they want to have Herr Herring's unilateral action strung around their neck. Because if they don't want to be tagged as a carpet bagger/ anti gun along with him then they had better make some moves to distance themselves from him. Even democrats in VA usually give lip service to the 2nd amendment.

I'll gladly point it out, because I'm an optimist. But, I won't expect it to do much good, because I am a realist. I've had similar conversations in the past, with not much luck.

But, I do generally walk away from such conversations with the hope that I have planted a seed. And, indeed, I have encountered leftward minded folks, several months after a debate, and they told me what I had told them, as if it were their own idea. So, you never know when something might take root.

Just an FYI:
I just updated my Excel workbook of Ohio CHL stats.
The best guess of the number of currently active Ohio Concealed Handgun Licenses is 535,081.
That's about 7.13% of the estimated 7.5 million adults eligible to have one.
Ohio's concealed carry law went into effect on April 8, 2004.
The last Ohio Attorney General's report was for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, 2015.

I hate to say it, chas, but you are mistaking evil for stupidity. The Left knows exactly what the consequences to the Commonwealth will be. They don't care. The well-being of Virginia is not something they care about. They only care about their own power and wealth.

They want the crime rate in Virginia to rise. Then they can press for even more anti-gun laws and regulations, in the name of "public safety".

The real shame is that so few of our citizens can see through the charade.

Of all the times to take ones privledge to carry a gun into other states... terrorist are killing Americans. I'm upset with both Pennsylvania and Virginia...Just think how your going to feel if one of your loved ones had a permit at one time and they get murdered traveling through either Va or Pa...Just say they would have had a chance to defend themselves. So now will t he crooks who laugh at gun free zones target out of state vehicles.. Will the political people who did this attend the funerals of the victims that could have at least defended themselves. Why their own state people could have been saved by an out of state person who at one time could have carried. Hopefully after the Democrats leave office Va and Pa republicans can change it back the way it was.. :( :(

I think fireman Bob is right. The left honestly doesnt think it will change anything, but its become about screwing us out of something, anything, to get a "win". Unfortunately, They are harming us all, including themselves, and their families, in the process.

Its a shame that they are so partizan on this that they are willing to shoot themselves in the foot.
