The son of a Mafia mob boss met with presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to try to secure the release of his father from prison in exchange for votes.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Giovanni Gambino, 41, met with Clinton at his pizzeria in Charleston, S.C., in 2007 during her unsuccessful bid for the presidency.

Giovanni is the son of Francesco Gambino, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 1989 for his involvement in a heroin drug ring; Giovanni was 14 at the time.

The son met with Clinton at his father’s urging, hoping he might negotiate a deal to secure a presidential pardon. “In return, Giovanni Gambino would get his ‘connections’ in the restaurant business to vote for her and drum up support,” according to the Daily Mail. The restaurant owner took a picture during the encounter. He later took one with Bill Clinton.
