At least they kept a safe distance away from the carnage. I've never seen anyone turn an otherwise good muzzleloader into splinters before.

I don't know what brand/model they destroyed (twice!!), but is seems fairly sturdy. You'd have to be Darwin Award level to destroy them under real world conditions. (Or, I suppose, stressed out to the level as the soldiers in the War Between the States story that they told)

Hmmm my savage 10ml seems to do fine with smokeless powder.

Probably because the Savage 10ml-II is the only muzzle-loader designed to use smokeless powder.

Some folks need to see something before they believe it. I think one of them should have at least stood there and looked at the owner's manual to find out what the actual charge limit for that particular muzzleloader is. If I remember my muzzleloader's limit (a different manufacturer and model), it is supposed to be three 50 grain pellets (2 is plenty). I saw the double charge and I could see someone doing that, but a double charge of 80 grains in a gun intended to handle 150 is barely over the limit at 160. I was hoping to see them do the double load (powder, ball, powder, ball) and see how that went, as well as well as one with an air gap between the powder and projectile. I don't see how you would ever mix up the smokeless powder and black powder in a muzzleloader. I can see it happening with cartridge type ammo when reloading cartridges like the .45-70. In the end they were just looking to destroy the guns, not to really test anything.
You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?
