Big Virginia political event: Shad Planking next week
****************************************************

The 61st Annual Shad Planking will be held in Wakefield, VA, on April
15th, 2009.


The Shad Planking is Virginia's premier political event of the year,
where candidates for office and elected officials of all parties meet
with the public. The invited speakers are the candidates for the 2009
Virginia gubernatorial election; Attorney General Bob McDonnell, State
Senator Creigh Deeds, Former House of Delegates member Brian Moran and
former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe.

The event is sponsored by the Wakefield Ruritan Club. It will be held
at the Wakefield Sportsmen's Club near Wakefield. It is held in an
outdoor picnic-like setting, with lots of food and beverages.

Thanks to Executive Members Leonard Harris and Norfolk Gun Show
Coordinator Ed Burton, who will be there with a recruiting and
information booth, and we need YOUR help to work our booth. Shifts are:

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Please purchase your own ticket. VCDL Volunteers will be reimbursed
for their tickets at the event.

Tickets can be purchased from the Wakefield Ruritan Club, P.O. Box
148, Wakefield, VA 23888. Tickets are also available from the
Virginia Diner at 1-800-935-4004. Tickets are $25. Tickets can be
