Another reason not to go to the theater

Checking bags? That didn't stop Holmes, who entered through the back door. I think they can label this "Theater Security" to "Security Theater".

I am finally getting around to re-installing the side channel speakers for my home theater (and maybe even the full 4 speaker side and rear). I already have the Cat5E preliminary runs done, with 8 more runs to go down there. Once the carpet is installed, I'll enjoy the movie experience at home. Better snacks, good company (my lovely wife), dog at my feet, cat in my lap - and no driving or dealing with people with whom I don't want to deal.

This is why I bought a big screen TV in the first place. I'm in no hurry to see anything that Hollywood is cranking out these days. If I watch it at all, it'll be on Amazon or Netflix.

I expect movie theaters to be as rare one day as a Blockbusters store is now.

I like movies. I do. I do not like movie theaters and haven't long before CO. happened. To dang expensive. Alas, I have to go occasionally to take my kids. I do not want to deny them something they find very special and enjoy so much. What usually happens is a aunt or uncle will get the gift cards for a birthday or Christmas so we'll use those. As far as searching me....FU. if that becomes the new norm then I'll have to stay home.

Most all the theaters around these parts are posted too. All but one which is an old one that is only 5 bucks a movie with unlimited free popcorn refills.

Meh. They can't check a bag that I don't carry.

They start wanding and conducting pat-downs, then we'll have a serious issue.

Growing up, the AMC checked bags all the time. Mostly looking for candy/food from outside, as well as video cameras.

Just one more thing for me to ignore.

The last time I went to the movies with the family, it was over $130 for entrance, snacks and drinks. The movie sucked. Seemed like a trend, so I stopped going. Just like Chris... that was long before CO. The last movie I saw in a theater was the original Fast and Furious, and that was 2001.

The only movies I seem to enjoy in the theater are the "Action" movies, but even they're getting kinda repetitive.

I know I will have to sigh, and suck it up to see "Suicide Squad", but again... it's a rare thing.

My theater visits slowed down considerably when they tore down the "$2 Tuesday" theater near my house, and came to a nearly complete halt when I had to drop $8.50 on a matinée!!!

For the price of taking two people to a movie, you can buy the DVD, and eat better popcorn with your beer and pizza! All that without traffic, parking, and noxious twits...

I'm content to stay away from movie theaters. The exeption would be a movie like American Sniper. That was worth going to the theater, especially since everyone who wanted to see it already had, by the time that I had the opportunity to go see it, and 50 Shades was the new thing, so we had a mostly empty theater, and choice seating.

W2B, on the other hand, always wants to go see a movie. I suppose that, on occasion of random movie theater violence, she will assault the assailant with a fierce volley of popcorn and Cherry Coke.

Regardless, she likes seeing movies in the theater, so I find myself in movie theaters a couple times a year.

After thinking about it, between the price of the ticket, and the snacks, the other patrons without manners, and the passing volley of teens hating their jobs... aren't we already assaulted by the time we're done?

Shooter or no shooter, I always think "Was it worth it?"

We go to a movie once in a coon's age. But I always wind up wodewring why:

1. SWMBO, being 4', 11.75" tall, usually can't see around the person in front of her;
2. about all of them sell only coke and I drink only Pepsi (which I must smuggle in an insulated "purse" SWMBO carries to keep from choking to death on the too-salty, too-greasy popcorn that I nonetheless can't resist buying for about 10 times what it ought to cost);
3. the rest of the snacks pretty much suck, too;
4. it's WAY to far to the bathroom;
5. there's frequently some kid kicking the seat back or some other dipchit doing something else annoying;
6. There's seldom a movie I even think I MIGHT want to watch; and when there is, SWMBO usually doesn't want to watch that one.

So I usually sit at home in front of my 70" TV, bitch about how I pay almost $200/month for cable that is still showing the same dang thing that was showing 2 years ago, and read my kindle while someone blathers on Fox News about something they've been blathering about all day long.

I sure am glad I can read.

No more theaters for me. The wife still likes going, but it's just way too expensive for me. Popcorn is outrageous and the other snacks that add inches to my waistline are worse. The movies mostly suck, just like Hollywood.

Just got a 32" smart-tv, but don't let the name fool you. It's really pretty stupid. I have Netflix, and just hooked up a spare Mac-mini I had laying around. Gonna put my antenna back up to get the locals so I can watch some football and the first half of the NASCAR season.

It's all in my music room, so I can run video's on you-tube and play along to figure out the chords. Pretty nice set-up, and I ain't done yet!

Now all I have to do is convince the wife to stop making that crappy microwave popcorn. Stinks up the whole damn house!

Dorm! If they open a BowTie cinemas back there, they stock Pepsi products....

Plus? Their movies cost a touch less, they serve beer/wine, and their bathrooms are regularly cleaned!

BowTie Cinemas makes Regal look like "Movies-in-tha-hood".
