We (Christians) did some pretty brutal stuff during the cruscades - read your history, it ain't pretty. Thus the phrase: "going midieval on your ass". We burned witches during the colonial days. And we (USA not just the South) justified slavery using scripture during the 19th century.

Just read that Wal-Mart is now going to melt down all class rings bearing the Confederate Battle Flag. If your student ordered a class ring with the CBF on it, they will give you a refund, not the ring. Even if it is already done. My recently graduated son is certainly glad he got his a couple years ago.

All this crap is ridiculous. I guarantee the people waging war on the CBF will regret the outcome. They aren't going to be happy with the repercussions. Upset people are going to start filing law suits demanding other "offensive" symbols, etc come down. Plenty who would support their right to keep such symbols will remain silent instead of defending them. "First they came for...."
