My wife and I have been doing a lot of backpacking in the George Washington National Forest and throughout the Shenandoah valley lately. She sequesters my LCR .357 during these trips, and my GP100 is pretty bulky for long hauls. I prefer revolvers for hiking/woods/trail gun over a semi-automatic, and I have been considering the Ruger SP101 in 4.2" for a looooong time. Pulled the trigger this weekend!
Nice revolver. I have that ruger in the .22 and it is a great little gun. Do you OC in the park? I am looking at doing some hiking on the Appalachian trail and it looks like you can OC just wanted to know if you have and how it went. From the regs I have seen you can carry, but cannot carry in buildings.
Nice!! I have one in .327 Mag... Love it, but since Ruger quit making them, they price skyrocketed, I decided to quit carrying it as much... now, they're making them again, but with the fiber optic front sight - which I'm not a huge fan of. I may start carrying it again, since they're producing them again... those revolvers are built like a tank to be so small.
