I had shot before, about 10 or so years ago with a friend who used to take me to the range but I have never owned until yesterday.
Before buying I took an Intro to Handguns class at Silver Eagle in Ashburn, VA this past weekend. I dragged my dad along, he's retired military but hasn't fired a weapon in probably 40 years. We both had a good time and the class itself was done well and the instructors were solid and really helpful. I used this opportunity to rent a few 9mm pistols (Glock 19 Gen4, VP9, FNH FNS-9 and XDM 3.
and when I was done the VP9 was the clear choice for me.
