RSO fail: Unplanned targets

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Watch closely at the 0:29 mark, and you'll see the luckiest man ever on a gun range.

The lesson here is that complacency can be very, very dangerous.

That is one lucky man. Good thing that shooter is accurate, competent and they are shooting steel. If it was paper, dude would have been dead regardless.

Why do you say they are shooting steel? Looked like all paper targets to me. No doubt they were lucky that the guy downrange was not killed or severely injured though. Major fail on the part of the Range Officer and the brass collector who was downrange with no situational awareness. Shooter reacted well.
Competition is one of the "great levelers" of ego.

Thought I heard dinging on every shot. could have just been me hearing things. I'll watch it again later, but I thought they are steel backed targets.

you can fault stage design as well.

having a design that prevents clear view down range sets up the situation where you can have something down range and not know its there.
