Did the Earthquake Wake You This Morning
2.8 hit hard enough to shake the house to the point I thought someone was running around upstairs in my house. The dog wouldn't stop barking either. Pretty crazy for such a low reading. That 5+ in 2011 didn't move my house as much.

I was in Richmond at 3am. I didn't feel a thing.
The quake that happened a while back; I was driving a delivery van up 199 in Williamsburg, so I didn't feel that, either.
At 3 o'clock this morning, I was in my truck watching an episode of Lost, so it either wasn't felt in Richmond, or my truck suspension absorbed the vibration.

Woke both of us up here - we've had so many since the big one that we have names for the different types and take bets on what the magnitude was.
This one was a boomer, no warning - but you could hear it rolling away.
The Cartersville plot confirms it came on fast, the Blacksburg plot shows separation of the P and S waves, right at a full minute later.

Re: Did the Earthquake Wake You This Morning
Nice graphs!
Yea, Glen... you are in the heart of it. I am a little envious to be honest. I have been at volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, floods, mud-slides and forest fires and 30'+ tidal waves. I have never been closet enough to an earthquake epicenter to experience the pucker factor. I don't want to be in a 7+... but I would have loved to have been at your house in 2011 for close to a 6.
Zero interest in being in a Tsunamis though.

First I've heard of it. But then we're 320 miles from Louisa and on strata that at 2,250 feet above sea level must certainly be different ones from what lies under Louisa at 420 feet. Don't know if that would make any difference or not. Besides, we didn't get back from Charleston, SC until just after midnight this morning.
