Re: NY Times: A Gun On Every Corner
Gail Collins is a huge anti-gun person. She writes stuff like that pretty regularly. There is zero science or fact. Its an opinion piece and a blatant attack on gun owners to characterize us as a bunch of gun toting, idiot criminals who are waiting for the law to pass so we can go on a cross country brandishing spree. She's such an idiot.
What I don't get is, every time some ground breaking gun law is passed that actually respects our freedom, the anti's cry that there will be blood in the streets and crime is going to skyrocket. However, even after time passes and the stats show they were clearly wrong, they never acknowledge the fact that the exact opposite of there "predictions" actually happens.
With the Freshmen in Congress, I am confident the bill will pass, but there is likely no way there will be enough votes to override the President's veto.

If the bill will pass now, then it should pass again in two years, I reckon.
Problem is, who will be sitting behind the First Desk, at that point?

She says, "a gun on every corner" like that's a bad thing.

Ha. I had that thought, too. Of course, if there are only guns on every corner, that's a lot of voids to fill between the corners.

Re: NY Times: A Gun On Every Corner
My favorite comment from the article pretty much sums it up.
"With my Texas CHL I can already carry in 35 states, including their cities. Visitors with CHLs from 43 states, including New York, can already carry in Texas. Nobody but the anti-gun folks have any problems with that.
The dirty little secret NYC and the other jurisdictions don't want to get out, as it will if reciprocity goes national, is that it really isn't difficult to get a concealed handgun license in NYC, provided the applicant is politically connected. If there's no "special" status, of course, it's impossible. On any other issue, that would be called "discrimination," and the NYC powers that be would have hissyfits."
