Her son would be alive today if it wasn't for a machete. A machete serves no useful purpose.
Well, one might be excused for speaking from grief, but both statements are box of rocks intelligent.

I imagine that city folk might agree that a machete has no useful purpose, but anyone who has had to clear overgrowth would quickly disagree.

Yes, for some there is nothing but a void outside their circle of existence.

Drinking straws can poke eyes out. They must be banned. It's for the children!

You can do more than that with a straw. Watch this:

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

How can society as a whole let the state or federal government get away with this? Don't they understand that once all the "weapons" are banned, the first or second time a news story hits TV about someone being stabbed to death with a #2 pencil, all pens and pencils will be banned. Then, when no pointy objects are left, they will ban clothes because someone strangled another with a shirt. Then after that they will ban rocks because... you know.... that who Cain and Able thing. And then, when we are naked, have nothing, not even rocks, someone will drowned another, then water... the most abundant resource on earth... will then be banned.

Its a stupid idea to believe banning objects will prevent murders. It makes me want to grab them by the shoulders and start shaking them while I yell at the top of my voice "Wake UP you F'ing IDIOT!!! This is insane!!!" The only reason I don't is because I don't want touching banned next.

It's commonly taught that people are inherently good. If you believe that, than it's not too difficult to convince you that objects can be evil.

And, if you believe that objects can be evil, it shouldn't be too hard to convince you that evil objects should be banned.

If you believe that people are good, objects can be evil, and evil objects must be banned, then it should be easy to tell which objects are evil.

That's how society, as a whole, can let various forms of government get away with this crap.

I guess when you have a country that is no longer mostly followers of God, its easier. Those of us who know of original sin and the tendencies of man, do in fact know that people are not inherently good, but rather make a concerted effort to be civil. Mostly out of selfishness and natural survival instincts.

I used to believe that people were inherently good. I knew that the Bible said otherwise, but it didn't really fit with modern thinking.

Then I turned 18, and ventured out into the real world. I roamed away from my family, and started to see the country and meet new people.

It didn't take long for me to change my mind.

If someone is filled with enough hate to want to kill, then they will kill. And they won't need a machete to do it. They won't need a gun. They'll just find another tool, if they want to.
