1. VCDL membership meeting in Annandale on Wednesday, February 18th, is CANCELLED
**************************************

Due to the bad weather this week, we are canceling the membership meeting for Wednesday, February 18.

Our next meeting is in March.

2. Letters to the BATFE on the M855 ammunition ban - did you put your name and address?
**************************************

Be sure you include your name and address in the letters you are sending to the BATFE about their attempt to ban M855 ammunition.

If you forgot, resend the email again with your name and address this time.

3. First two pro-gun bills head to the Governor's desk!
**************************************

Senator Stuart's SB 948, which prohibits the Virginia State Police from sharing CHP holder information with any state that does not honor Virginia CHPs, has now passed both the Senate (24 to 16) and the House (66 to 33)! It was not changed by the House and it now heads to the Governor's desk.

Senator Tom Garrett's SB 1130, which makes possession of blackjacks, metal knuckles, switchblade knives, and other such weapons legal, has cleared the Senate (25 to 13) and the House (56 to 42)! It was not changed by the House and it now heads to the Governor's desk. (NOTE: If signed into law, this bill would NOT authorize the concealed carry of any of those weapons. Only open carry would be allowed).

4. Pro-gun bill dies in Senate finance
**************************************

Delegate Wilt's HB 2029, which would allow a person with a CHP to skip the background check when purchasing a handgun, died in Finance because the cost provided by the Virginia State Police to handle occasional audits by the BATFE was ridiculously high. The NRA Lobbyist told the Courts of Justice committee on Monday that none of the other states who have a similar law are even close to needing as much money as the State Police were requiring. Either the State Police did this as a way to kill the bill this year or they are gouging the Commonwealth.
