Got pulling over OCing

Post by Jakeiscrazy »

Hey all,

Got pulled over while open carrying tonight for the first time. It went like this.
Officer: Gotcha speeding.
Me: Just to let you know I'm open carrying a handgun on my right side.
Officer:(without a second of consideration) OK license and registration.

I produce those things and he told me to slow down and have a nice night.

Kudos to the officer and the department for being super professional.

Wow... I don't know if I would just throw it out there like that. Might have been a bit more delicate. In any case, glad everything went well.

What jurisdiction? ...I would be shocked if that was Fairfax County.

Ain't that the truth. When I was doing volunteer work for PWC, I had my windows tinted so people could not see in the vehicle. I regularly had government property or paperwork in my vehicle that I didn't want stolen while I ran in a store or something. It was literally 1% too dark (beyond the +/- allowed) and he gave me a $100 fine. Even after I told him what I did and why the windows were tinted.

Thouse guys a tough. And don't forget Geer! Damn. In Fairfax, yould be lucky to leave alive.

I really have no idea the stop was over before I thought to look. It was on powhite on the bridge. There might be a way to say that with more finesse but sometimes being direct is better.

Don't get stopped much, but when I do it's the first thing I tell 'em. They all say the same thing, "Thanks, I appreciate your telling me you are carrying."

Most of 'em just want to do their job and go home. I try to avoid giving them a reason to pull me over in the first place.

The people telling them they have firearms are not the ones they are afraid of.

I have very limited internet now since I have moved. Verizon wont run DSL so it's cell phone network only. Which makes it a little difficult to log on and just pursue the forums on a frequent basis but I just bought a new laptop and am trying to logon more because I miss it!

I just wanted to share this mostly because LEOs get plenty of bad press these days so it's always goo to share the positive experiences.

You know? Even when I'm severely in the wrong. I've only had two bad LEO's my entire life...
