Re: Senate Takes up Conealed Carry Reciprocity
The fact that it's even needed is ridiculous imo. The 2A should have already been enough. I agree it should be like a drivers license. Every state has different point systems, a few different regs on driving, getting licensed, etc. yet, one can drive in any state with a license from any state. A lot more people die in vehicles than at the hands of guns every year.
It's absurd that any state can or does deny citizens the right to defend themselves while that right is constitutionally protected.

No. It should not be like a drivers license.
It should be like a pair of pliers.
I can go anywhere in this country and purchase a pair of pliers. I see them in hardware stores, grocery stores, truckstops, convenience stores, and drug stores. They are everywhere. If I decide that I need or want a pair of pliers, I grab the one I want, and take it to the counter. The cashier rings it up, I give him some cash, he gives me change. That's it, end of transaction, I now own a pair of pliers. I was not compelled to justify ownership of pliers, or prove my worthiness of pliers.
Once I have purchased those pliers, I can stick them in my pocket, and carry them around. I can cross state lines, county lines, whatever. I do not have to justify my pliers to anyone. I need not ever fear being arrested for illegally transporting pliers across state lines.
A drivers license is conditional. The 2nd Amendment is not.

This is really awesome. I no its not perfect... but this is a huge improvement. Keep in mind, this was passed in the House of Reps 6 times in a row, every year for the last 6 years. It has been killed in the Senate every time.
Now its Senate taking up the bill and the R's own the Senate. If it passes the Senate, its a done deal, because we know the House of Reps will pass it.

Re: Senate Takes up Conealed Carry Reciprocity
If a bill passes that allows me to carry in all 50 states, provided I have a permit, I may just go one and get one. Wonder if the company would change their gun policy at that time?
Of course, if it doesn't apply to all 50, then it's not of much use to me. (OK; not all 50; not much chance of me being dispatched to Hawaii, or Alaska) I have to be ready to go anywhere within the US, from anywhere, at anytime. I can't reject a load on account of a gun in my truck.
