Anyone planning on attending this years meeting in Nashville? I'm gonna try and get out there myself for all 3 days of the work schedule can allow it. Never actually been to the AM before and figured it'd be exciting to get out there to hear the speakers and see the exhibits. Anyone that's previously gone have any tips/hints?

I went to one they had in Charlotte, NC in 2000 because Charlotte is only 245 miles from me (Nashville is 325 or so). I only ran down and back for one day, and didn’t try to hear any speakers. First lesson learned was that if you want to see everything on that floor you need more than one day. But I didn’t enjoy the floor much. If the booth had anything worthwhile, the waiting line was hours long. Most of the people manning the booths of the smaller exhibitors were downright rude. And to my surprise, there was a lot of crap there that I just didn’t give a tinker’s damn about. It was nice to be able to walk up to someone at the Benelli booth (for instance) and bitch because the “chicken button” fell out of the stock of your new Super Black Eagle on a goose hunt and got lost and be promised a free replacement. It was NOT nice to be told when you actually call the factory later that they are not going to do any such thing. I had the same experience with Ruger on a cracked stock on a Ruger Red Label. Maybe I waited too long to follow through, but neither company delivered on the promises made at their booths on the floor at the NRA show. I’ve never bothered to go back to one since (they had it in Charlotte again in 2010). It’s too much like a gun show, and I ain’t wasting any of my limited energy or patience on another one. You’re young and will probably get a charge out of it, though. Have at it. But whatever you do, don’t walk up and TOUCH anything at an exhibit unless you’re prepared to take a tongue-lashing.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.
Yeah I was definitely planning to do a trip of Friday - Monday Morning. The drive alone is ~9-10 hours but I figured if in driving that far I would want to go to the speeches, do some exhibit looking, maybe even do a half day volunteer if my schedule looks clear and I'm actually able to go. One thing I won't do is go to the Alan Jackson concert. Not because I don't like Mr. Jackson (I do) but it's more than likely got nothing to do guns haha.
Good not on the stations too, I'll definitely keep hands off and not try to get any deals unless they act on them in the spot or gimme something in writing at least.
Would love to go this year, but I already know I'm not in town...
That said, I would consider flying instead of driving. Probably costs more, but in the end, you have to figure out if your time and personal comfort is worth the cost over driving.
