What, exactly, is a "military-style" salute? Is it different from a mock salute?

I recall saluting in Scouts; the Scout salute seemed similar in style to the saluting that I performed in JROTC. Was I engaging in felonious behavior when I was saluting as a Scout?

This entire world of "being offended/insulted" is getting to the point that a free-speaker like myself finds that biting my tongue is my new hobby.

Here's what I know, offensive or not:

1.) You need a two-parent household to make a decent citizen. If you are one by a one parent? You need to worship that one parent like an icon of power.
2.) The military is an all volunteer force. BECAUSE of that, Not in SPITE of that, you need to thank those people MORE than any other career path given. They put themselves in the line of fire from a given hostile force than any other job.
3.) Wanna lose weight? Watch your carbs, calories, and just get off the computer/couch. No special secrets, no special diets, no "shakes"...Just eat frakin' less, and move frakin' more.
4.) No one owes you a single solitary thing. Nothing, nada, nein, nunka... Get over yourself, and do it yourself.
5.) You're not allowed to whine if you're not a participant. You didn't vote? You didn't fight? You're not at Lobby day? You didn't write letters/e-mails? STFU. You're the problem, not the solution.
6.) MOVE OUT OF THE PASSING LANE IF YOU ARE GOING SLOW! Yes, you can "park" your ass there, sure people can go around you, but don't be a d'bahg because it's your "right as an 'Murican."
7.) Fast food is not good for you. But it freakin' taste delicious. Otherwise we'd all be eating at "Salad King" not "Burger King". That said, YOU DO NOT EAT IT EVERY DAY!
8.) Never trust anyone who says "Trust me". As Reagan said "Trust, but verify".
9.) Youth indeed is wasted on the young, but by God a hot young thing makes me stupid as a hammer when they smile, and flirt.
10.) You're gonna die. No matter how much you exercise, medicate, meditate, or fight it, in the end, we all hit zero. I don't want to go out without having some fun. Sooo stop raining on my parade with "advice".

Rev - #5 got me rolling! And, yes, my wife accuses me of getting more curmudgeonly as I get older. My Dad is 79 and quite the curmudgeon. This is what I have to look forward to.

I have never understood the guv’mints thoughts that you can control “vice”. Albeit firearms, alcohol, tobacco, wacky tabacky, oldest profession, etc, etc…

Because clever people will come up with clever ways around things… It’s why we survived when it was a dog-eat-dog world! Now? We don’t have dog-eat-dog due to slacktaters slactations, but those clever ways around things instinct still exist!

(shrugs) In the end, which is coming sooner than later, we’ll find that it’s not the cut, and fit mindless robots that survive, but the fat old men who work things out, and are in reasonably sturdy shape.

I may not be able to run 10 miles in 50 minutes, but I can hot wire a truck in 10 minutes, and go 50 miles without being winded!!

<Sigh> If de SHTF, I'll just have to bank on being a mean old cuss with a pretty good roostin' place and decent resources that's been around long enough to know a few tricks. Of course i'm allowed to whine, silly, I don't vote half the time because it's like trying to choose between being punched in the nose and being kicked in the balls.
