Did you know there are AT LEAST 16 US intelligence agencies?

What's worse? OVERLAP LIKE A CHAMP! They sometimes STUMBLE OVER THEMSELVES in the course of an investigation!

Those list the top agencies, but even within the agencies there sometimes are separate departments and offices!
There are good reasons to keep so many intelligence agencies going. I'm not into conspiracy theories.. (ok, maybe a little), but the thought of one uber all knowing agency, while possibly efficient, could also become terribly corrupt. The multiple agencies, while sometimes redundant, keep checks and balances in place and also allow the intel gather process to occur through multiple perspectives.

Also, if you read the blurb on DHS, it says their primary concern is BORDER SECURITY. Damned if I can tell it by what's been done.

I'm with you Chris... they must have a pretty broad definition of what an Intel Agency is. There are a few that don't really qualify and several that are forbidden to operate in the US... only international and are mission/objective driven.
