Gnat Shooting

Post by Chasbo00 »

I used to shoot a lot of skeet a few decades ago. But, I've been almost exclusively a handgun shooter the last few years. This shotgun sport may get me back into shooting a shotgun again, even though I'm a former Aviator.

I sent them an e-mail and asked for pricing. Thing is, they may fly 80 miles per hour, but they look to be prit'near as big as a decent-sized goose. Very intriguing. Looks to be as much fun as a feller can have with his britches on. May be prohibitively expensive, but then again, maybe won't cost too much if you say it fast enough...........

GOOD GAWDAMIGHTY! I just checked my e-mail and got a reply, and I ain't ashamed to admit it's beyond my man-toy budget by upwards of a damnsight!

Here's the part i didn't bother to read beyond:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
System is $27,000. (PRICE HAS JUST BEEN LOWERED BY $3000.) + s/h and duty (usually about $1500.)
Catalog is attached as to what all is included. Here is a Snap shot:
14 Ready to fly Planes, Launcher, Replacement part for approx 10 events.
Upkeep depends upon amount of dame from shoots, sometimes time consuming, but not difficult. But usually damage is minimal.
FINANANCING IS NOW AVAILABLE

OR, You can hire us out at about $4000./day + Expenses
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hell, for $4,000/day, I can do any kind of wingshooting I want to - AT REAL BIRDS!
$27,000 for 10 events is STILL $2,700/day. We could go anywhere in the WORLD to birdhunt for that kind of money.

Seems that some cheap remote control planes would accomplish a similar goal for a lot less money. They may not move as fast, but they'd be smaller, thus equalizing the challenge.

YOUCH!!

Time to start the "VGOF Gnat Fund". With any luck, we'll have enough to buy a system in about 37 years :)

But would they withstand the damage as well as the GNAT seems to? I don't know much about RC planes, but if I had to guess I'd say they couldn't take shotgun blasts like that.

I suppose, Karma, that if you were to use the system a few times a week, with friends, and the thing got a lot of use, then I might be concerned with that.

But, given the frequency with which I would use it, I would go with the cheap RC planes (or choppers). Given the difference in cost, I would not even care that each plane was a one hit deal.

Besides, watching the plane get blown to pieces would be part of my fun, lol.
