Big Brother is at it Again!

Post by TacticalTedcom »

Big Brother is at it again!
I remember reading a while back of a concealed handgun permit holder from Florida who was driving through one of the northeastern states that didn’t allow guns to be transported through the state. He was stopped by a policeman and held up for three hours while the officer searched for the man’s car for the weapon even though the driver told the officer that he left it in Florida.

Strikes me as a reason to NOT have a permit, and just open carry.

I think the bigger problem, which the article brings to light, is the fact the the government is likely unlawfully, surely immorally, collecting data about all of us. It is a collection of federal (NSA), state/local and private, via traffic cams and car cams. We can't really combat it either. There is no assumption of privacy while you are "in public".

I don't know what to do about it. Other than getting proof that anything used agaist you was captured after the issue of a warrant, there isn't anything stopping them.

This is somewhat of an old story but the facts are correct. If my memory is accurate, the man was stopped for an alleged traffic violation. He then ran the plates and came up with the cc permit. Then he asked the man if he had any firearms in the car. The man said no. The LEO asked the wife who said, she didn't know, he sometimes kept one in the glove box but she didn't like them or something to that effect. At that point the LEO decided to tear the car apart, looking for "contraband".

The reasonable cause for the stop seemed to be in question. Personally, I feel the entire line of questioning as well as the subsequent search was as unconstitutional as it gets. Having been on the receiving end of an MSP traffic stop, I can tell you these troopers can be aggressive. (I had to buy a car on a Memorial Day Weekend in VA - went back to MD on Memorial Day and thus my plates did not match the car. HELLO?? My papers were in order but I was still subject to the 3rd degree. I later found out, such questioning is entirely legal on the officer's part.)

I never heard how this case turned out but, indeed, Big Brother is more of a Big Bully. While We the People stand idly by or look the other way.

This sort of thing is common practice in Maryland. All the more reason that the vehicle I use for work travel is registered to a third-party leasing company, which happens to be in Maryland.

No way that a cop's plate scanner is going to show up with my name and subsequent Virginia CHP.

@ORS- My company vehicle is registered out of state, too. Except, mine is registered to Oklahoma.

Hmmm sounds like a perfect use for a trust... might have to move the vehicles over to some sort of non-personal registration.

My main ride is a box truck with white and red lights on it. I can speed and park anywhere I want; when the lights are on...

At this point? We're all under scrutiny, and with the advent of there "Doomsday" plans, there is a conspiracy that the guv'mint actually LOVES Preppers/gunowners, because when they're going to need food, ammo, firearms, they're coming AFTER the fact!

At that time? Any hostile intent, from whatever person/agency, quantifies my need for self-defense.

Ain't that the truth! An LEO family member of mine recently informed me that lists were a myth. I told her that she only believed that because her security clearance wasn't high enough. She's mad at me, now.
