Grounds for a divorce
Gotta consider parting ways when the wife leaves your AR15 in the backseat of a rental car. Even if she is one pretty lady!

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

I read a few stories that said it was HER Ar15. Easy mistake IMO.

That's funny and scary at the same time.
Don't know about you guys... but I don't even leave my wife alone with my guns. They are expensive and all trails lead back to me. No thanks.

Well then, Marc, I hope she has her own firearms so she can defend herself when you're away.

Re: Grounds for a divorce
She is an anti-gun left wing lib. There is a stronger chance of me having dinner with Jesus Christ without me having to die than her ever even touching a gun. She won't even go out with me if she knows I am going to a gun store, because she doesn't even want to be in the parking lot in front of the building.
She is one of those people who would prefer to die. I lover her to the ends of time... but I can't figure that stuff out.

How do you forget an item left on the backseat of a rental car? How does a rental car company
clean a car and not notice the rifle on the backseat? How do you rent a car and not notice the rifle on the backseat for two days?
I notice that liberals who find guns freak out. This goofy broad reminds me of the guy who received a rifle in the mail by mistake a while back. They all act like this inanimate object is going jump up and bite them.
These are typically the same folks that mock anyone who believes in a God who created the universe.
Regardless of anyones beliefs, that strikes me as a bit of doublethink.

I understand there are other issues but you're on a gun forum so you obviously really like guns. So how do you wind up marrying someone that hates the very thing you stand for.

Re: Grounds for a divorce
We are high school sweethearts and have been together for 22 years. We actually enjoy many of the same things. Especially travel, tv and movies, cars, charities, food, religion, etc. Truth is, there are only a small amount of things we disagree about.
1.) I used to be a professional race car driver. She absolutely hated it. Every time I left for the track, she assumed that was the last time she was ever going to see me. I guess she just doesn't want me taking risks.
2.) She has an unrealistic dream that utopia can work. I think that is what drives her political views, but it's mostly because she has such a big heart. Though I don't agree with her, I do spend thousands of dollars a year sponsoring needy families in the US, donating food and clothes, and saving a bunch of furry animals. I let her decide on the charities. She especially focuses on poor military families since we both have close ties.
3.) Firearms... she is a survivor three violent crimes. Two of those three involved guns. I have tried to explain to her that the gun was not the problem, but the bad people with them. She doesn't feel any better about it. In her opinion, regardless of how good people are, we all have our bad moments. She thinks if you have a short laps of judgement due to anger and a gun is handy, even good people are more prone to hurt someone because it seems so effortless and almost like it isn't real. Up hill battle there.
I have tried to explain that gun bans and anti-2A laws are really a means for the government to enslave the people instead of being run by the people. We have God given rights and all of them are enforced because we are allowed to defend ourselves. Once we can no longer defend our rights... they are gone.
She acts like I am lecturing her and I am paranoid because "the government would never do that".

Re: Grounds for a divorce
Thanks man. We try.
She knows I carry everywhere and she doesn't complain. She doesn't give me grief about buying guns/parts/accessories, etc.
I CC so I'm not putting it in her face. I wait for her to go out or go to sleep before I do cleanings, etc. It keeps the piece.

My wife like it when I buy guns. She sees them as in investment (finance wise and security wise) as opposed to an expense.

Divorce? That's when you carefully explain, "Look, just in case you forget another one, let's buy another with a Bluetooth radio so it's tied to your cell phone so you NEVER forget it. I'll just use the OLD one, since it's not as high tech, ok?"

Please don't group us agnostics with liberals. I respect your rights to believe whatever you want as long as you respect mine.SHMIV wrote:

@Roverhound: I'm not grouping agnostics in with liberals. I'm not even lumping atheists in with liberals.
If I remember my train of thought correctly, I was probably pointing out that many anti-gun liberals seem to act as if a gun, laying dormant on a table, might suddenly gain life and attack anyone in the room, but these same people will turn around and mock anyone who believes in a Supreme Creative Being.
My guess is, I had probably just finished a drive shift in which I had listened to 6+ hours of sermons, and theology was on my mind at the time I posted that.
