Greetings!
Am pleased to join the group/forum. Am about to move from the People's Republic of NY to the Shenandoah Valley. Would appreciate recommendation as to outdoor range(s) near Harrisonburg which can accommodate pistol and rifle (minimum 100 yards). Appreciate any current feedback and suggestions.

Re: Outdoor ranges near Harrisonburg
Take 33 west outside of Harrisonburg and continue into WV. On the right there is a forest service rifle range just inside the WV border. There is also a range in Augusta county at Hite Hollow.
Both of these ranges are subject to closure because of vandalism. They did get closed for 5 months because of this which I posted about on this site but all I got for support was some blah blah blah Obama. Apparently nobody could take the time to call the forest service and protest the closures.
Now that the ranges were actually closed for nearly half of the year it seems that some people stepped up and are actually trying to take care of our ranges.
I was at Hite Hollow a week or so ago and it was actually in pretty good shape so it looks like people really did step up.

I take back that Hite Hollow was in good shape. I was there yesterday and someone had shot the main sign with a shot gun.
Glad I don't shoot there much. I won't miss it when its closed for good.
