We have 65 boxes at 10 per box, 3 inch shells, HEVISHOT 410 Gauge, 7/16 oz shot, shot size - 4.
Does anyone know if there is a state or county law regarding the amount of ammunition a private person may sell?
Thanks
How much ammunition is it legal to sell in VA?

No law that I'm aware of restricts the amount of your personal property that you may sell.
I just saw a guy on the VGOF facebook group page selling 3,000 rounds of 9mm.

I'm not aware of any laws either. As long as you are not doing it frequently enough that someone could interpret sales as for income or business purposes, there should not be a problem. But total volume in a single private party transaction... I can't find any state or federal limits.

Selling ammunition at non-commericial levels is questionable, but buying with obvious intent to sell (like cleaning out wal-mart and selling all of it soon thereafter) will get you in trouble. If its something you have been sitting on a while, and have used yourself, then you're on better grounds. Don't act like an FFL without a license, in its simplest form.

There is no Law that prevents you from selling your personal ammo, no matter the quantity. ..and that should be the end of the answers.
Prolonging / changing a topic not questioned by the OP could potentially create confusion and cause false information to be spread. Not that I'm saying people can't talk about whatever they want.

The whole idea is proof of intent. Is he planning on making a career from doing "private sales" of ammo because he is not a licensed business? Then its very illegal both at the state and federal levels.
The reason for the broad and unsolicited information is due to the lack of background and us not knowing fully what the OP is up to.
So a vague question that will get you a lot of possibly unneeded info or questions...

Detailed question that will get you a one or two word answer...Is there a limit to the number of rounds in a private sale?
I sold all of my 9mm guns, but held onto the ammo thinking I may get another... but after a year, I am deciding to sell the ammo. I am wondering if there are any laws I need to know if there is an ammo count limit on a private sale, because I have 26,000 round I may sell to one guy.

See the difference?A week ago I bought 26,000 round of 9mm. I am thinking about selling it all by the box at yard sales over the next several weekends. I am wondering if there are any laws I need to know about? I have 26,000 rounds I may sell to one guy OR I may sell 2,600 individual boxes. Are there ammo count limits or profit limits per transaction since it will be private sales?

Carole, if they don't suit you, sell your .410s and don't worry about it.
'Tis obvious from your history that you're not trying to skin somebody.

Bert..Since when do you need an ffl to sell commercial ammo. If you are selling reloads..yes. You might be thinking of a business license and a tax permit?
